Article pretty clearly indicates Clinton surrogates will decide what story to tell regarding her health based entirely on image. "Allergies" my ass. Bad call.

I do think this "unfit to be President based on poor health" stuff is completely asinine, though. Are people seriously acting like pneumonia is a disqualifying condition for public office? I take issue with the dishonesty, but NOT with her getting sick. Shit happens, and it's a mostly mental job anyway.

In Hillary's defense - *IF* she has been suffering from Pneumonia, this combined with a persistent cough could easily lead to hypoxemia. A low blood oxygen level can easily cause loss of consciousness. A persistent cough alone could cause this, depending on frequency and duration.

I haven't seen her speech or comments prior to the stumble - the search results are all clogged with her stumble/incident. The ones I have found have the promotional banner running across the bottom, hiding her hands. If you run across a video showing her hands - the backs of her hands, in particular the fingertips and fingernails - you might be able to tell if they are cyanotic (mostly bluish/purple) with very little pinkish color. While this can be an indicator for other circulatory issues, the absence of it (nails show some pink color) would tend to make me put chronic hypoxemia secondary to pneumonia or persistent cough on the back burner as a potential cause.

A facility or medical provider would typically use a pulse oximeter for a more accurate reading. In both cases, the device and the color of the nails represent the oxygenated percentage of hemoglobin in the blood. While Sp02 isn't universally the sixth vital sign (or seventh for those that already have pain as sixth) it will be.

If we notice a member of the secret service carrying one (or see the tell tale strap) it doesn't mean anything is wrong. If a member of her detail (or Obama's or Trump's) detail *isn't* carrying one, than they need to be debriefed and retrained since they should be.

Pneumonia isn't a chronic disease (though it can be serious and can lead to fatalities). If she has some other serious circulatory, neurological, or oxygenation issues that affect her judgement, then they would be disqualifications.

The occasional stumbling, wobbling, falling or whatever doesn't concern me that much. Age frequently takes its toll on people's mobility and stability, and doesn't necessarily impact their mental acuity.

Her speechwriters and handlers and Hillary do need to get on the same page though. Her scanning speech pattern is disconcerting and she is going to look incompetent if she starts drawing complete blanks during a debate.

**if*** someone is feeding her words through an ear piece - or if the speech writers are parsing her phrases too unnaturally, they need to change how they are doing it so that her words and timing fit her style and she isn't thrown off balance when discussing a subject.
Reciting phrases that someone else wrote for her could be part of the problem.


She has plenty of moments when it is clear that she is voicing what she thinks and not what a speech writer or handler has fed her. She sounds more lucid and competent when she is doing this.

If her occasional scanning speech patterns aren't a result of handlers or poor speechwriters, than I'd say the average voter does have reasons to be concerned. In that case it would be correct to want a more honest and detailed medical assessment to determine whether the issue is debilitating for the office of president.
