There is no exalt sink. When exalts jumped from 30c up to 60-80c back in Tempest it was because there was a big exalt sink from master crafting (stuff like +3 bows for caustic arrow). Now the meta builds are things like Earthquake and Flameblast which do not require master modding like this and run off a handful of uniques. Thats why you see things like Marohi and Caracass jack becoming super inflated.
Right now the chaos orb is super strong because people are chaos spamming 6-links, using uniques, and sinking tons of chaos into maps. There is almost no use for exalts anymore. This is even more true since they got rid of Anarchy and Onslaught from Zana which previously cost an exalt to put on a map and was used to chance voll's devotions. Tl;DR: Nobody needs exalts, people need tons of chaos. Check out my Path of Exile content:

I can't remember the last time I even needed an exalt.
Plenty of chaos spamming though. |
