Where is the downside of Shavronne?

Examples of direct downside from body armours:

Tabula Rasa = No Status
Soul Mantle = Inflicts a random level 20 Curse on you when your Totems die
Vis Mortis = Minions have 20% reduced Maximum Life
Infernal Mantle = 100% increased Spell Damage taken when on Low Mana
The Covenant = 20% reduced maximum Life
Cloak of Flame = 41 Energy Shield
The Rat Cage = −5% to maximum Fire Resistance, 20% increased Fire Damage taken
Queen of the Forest = 25% reduced Movement Speed
Kaom's Heart = Has no Sockets
Greed's Embrace = −20% to Lightning Resistance
Death's Oath = You take 450 Chaos Damage per second for 3 seconds on Kill
Hyrri's Ire = Only give evasion?
Belly of the Beast = Low Armour, Extra Gore?(more lag?)
Daresso's Defiance = You lose all Endurance Charges when Hit
Lightning Coil = −60% to Lightning Resistance


A lot have a downside of been Low Level and don't give many status when you are at the end game.


Shavronne's Wrappings = (336 to 420) of Energy Shield and all positive status with 'Chaos Damage does not bypass Energy Shield' that able REALLY broken builds.

Your like a year and a half late to the party.

The downside is 2 extra aura's and 30% more spell deeps.

And obviously that you can only get around 8K es instead of 12k es

I despise what this armor did for GGG, destroying a very interesting niche concept that adequately rewarded risk. But that's just me, i see what low-life could have been and now is not thanks to this armor alone.

Given your creative approach to finding something you can label as downsides of the other armours, up to and including "low armour" and "only gives evasion", or your laughable "downside" to Queen of the Forest that it has -25% movement speed without mentioning that it is, in fact, "-25% movement speed +1% movement speed per 450 evasion" that makes it an awesome armour in the first place... I think I can safely say that the obvious downsides of Shavronne's Wrappings using your approach is:

* No life on an armour that is only of interest to a life build.
* Mediocre energy shield.
* Low resistances.

Now, that's tongue in cheek, but if you take a look at the 38 unique body armours, you'll see that direct penalties are few and far between.

The notion that uniques need downsides to balance them is quaint but does not appear to be GGG's design philosophy. Much more prominent appears to be the intention of creating interesting uniques that are not universally useful.

If there is a problem with Shavronne's Wrappings (a point that certainly is arguable), it is not the lack of downsides, but the lack of competition in its niche.
