Gameplay Help and Discussion - Firestorm DPS Calculation? - Forum

Wow, fast response. ^_^ Also glad I made myself clear enough you understood right away. And in general thanks for the work you put into it, it's helped me make my decision about Molten Orb/LMP vs Firestorm(going with firestorm). Molten Orb really needs a buff, imho. It's a nifty concept but in practice ends up pretty lackluster. Which is sad, because I kind of prefer the feel of it to firestorm and incinerate. But the damage is around half of firestorm's, over a smaller area. It's even less than firestorm -without- running LMP, so it's single-target damage is lower than a wide-spread AOE spell, which is just sad. It certainly has some issues, needing to retarget close to yourself to deal with enemies that close in order to not accidentally lob your orbs over their heads, but otherwise I like it more than firestorm. I am not really into the whole channeling aspect of firestorm, staying still isn't my style. And the range on fully upgraded magma orb is impressive. But the dps difference is astounding. Firestorm deals more damage than Magma Orb -without- LMP, and scales better with basically everything. The fact that MO doesn't shotgun at all puts the last nail in it's coffin.
