Winterheart, Event 15: Alt Start Malachai Kill

A summary of Alternate Start events:

Unlike regular races, Alternate Start events do not begin in Act 1, Normal. They can begin in any act or difficulty after that. These areas are the same level as they appear in the regular game, and are not scaled down for these events.

To compensate, Alternate Start Events provide pre-levelled characters with unallocated skill trees, who start with basic gear and skill gems appropriate to their level. These race types are also voided.

This event begins in Act 3, Normal, in The Sarn Encampment.

Characters start at Level 22, with 25 unallocated passives. They have allied with Eramir when dealing with the bandits.

A summary of Time based events:

Time based events are designed to create a competitive environment where players compete not by character experience, but by their ability to progress through the game and complete specific objectives, such as killing bosses.

The boss required to be defeated for this race is: Malachai, The Nightmare, located in The Harvest.

  • The time recorded is based from the beginning of the race, not when your character is created.
  • Characters will not appear on the ladder until they have completed the objective.
  • Characters are not required to have completed the time based objective in order to receive points for the other objectives, such as points awarded for reaching certain levels.
  • Characters who die after completing the objective will still be counted for receiving reward points.
  • Points are awarded at the end of the race, do not delete your characters until they have been moved to the permanent leagues.

Boss Kill Prizes:
The following are awarded to all players to complete them, not just the first.
  • Kill Piety in Normal difficulty: 1 Reward Points.
  • Kill Dominus in Normal difficulty: 1 Reward Points.
  • Kill King Kaom in Normal difficulty: 1 Reward Points.
  • Kill Daresso, King of Swords in Normal difficulty: 1 Reward Points.
  • Kill Malachai, The Nightmare in Normal difficulty: 5 Reward Points.

Top Prizes:

The overall top player by time will receive 3 Reward Points.

The top 20 players of each class by time will receive:
  • #1 player of each class: Demigod's Dominance (Unique Golden Mantle) and 10 Reward Points.
  • #2 player of each class: 6 Reward Points.
  • #3 player of each class: 5 Reward Points.
  • #4 player of each class: 4 Reward Points.
  • #5 player of each class: 3 Reward Points.
  • #6-10 player of each class: 2 Reward Points.
  • #11-20 player of each class: 1 Reward Point.

Prizes for reaching specific levels:
  • Level 36: 5 Reward Points.
  • Level 32-35: 4 Reward Points.
  • Level 28-31: 2 Reward Points.
  • Level 24-27: 1 Reward Point.

Random Prizes:
Reward points earned in this race grant tickets in a random draw for the following items:
  • Alternate Art Asphyxia's Wrath Unique Item (50 available to be won)

In the bits I've quoted above I feel like there's some conflicting text. First its stated that players compete not by experience but by the time that it takes them to kill Malachai. And then at the point distribution the points are given for experience. (Also the demigod is given to the player with the most experience.

I think there was an error when placing these rewards.

You appear to be correct, one word should be changed, "The top 20 alive players of each class by experience will receive:" should be "The top 20 alive players of each class by [time] will receive:"

Here is an example of how the same information was displayed last season. Soulthirst, Event 127: Malachai Kill
Yeah thats what I thought. It seems to appear wrong on all of current season's boss kill events.
A time based event that consider the start of the race instead of character time just makes no sense.

Just make it character time played based and reset the chest when a new char is made to avoid exploitation and only then this race will be alright.

Imo the race is completely fine. You have one chance, like in every race.

The passive skill points are unallocated, and skill gems are cheap from vendors.
Hardcore Malachai race... left side of the tree it is then.
malachai is a nub
GitGud, GitNerfed, Repeat.
