Sneaky Trade Scam Attempt

PoE is like a garage sale, pretend it's real life with real people and just be nice about trading even when you feel someone is trying to sneakily barter you.

There is a slight difference between sneaky bartering and outright dishonesty. If someone tried to pull a fast one like that on you, and you noticed, would you agree to lower your price?

As for whining about it, that is not quite what the OP is doing. He is warning people about a scamming technique of which they might be unaware. That is downright commendable.

I know this isn't the biggest scam, but figured I'd let small time traders like myself know what happened.

He's not saying it ruined his day, or his fun, or whatever. But some people who are not as chill as you might find it unpleasant to notice that someone lied to them after the deal is done. It took as much effort for the OP to write about it here and warn players about that possibility as it took you to comment that he shouldn't have done so.
We need more people like him.

OP it's not a scam it's called a bargain everyone does that, if you feel offended it's your own problem

If you got arrested for giving 10$ for a 15$ item and running away with it before the cashier could notice, would you plead that you were just bargaining?

you sell your item 15$ I makes you an offer of 10$ it's called a bargain. Everyone does that, you try to sell your item the highest price possible I try to buy it the lowest, we meet somewhere in the middle :3

calling this a scam is a lie and looking for attention.

Do you honestly not see the difference between those two situations?

There is a huge difference between a scam and making an offer. Calling this a scam is stupid

if someone makes you an offer you can think as much as you want about it accept or refuse

I'm glad that we agree. Now go back to the OP and read it again.

I red it and the guy made him an offer, it's not a scam it's an offer.

you accept or you refuse. OP is just seeking for attention. lol this is not a scam
Yep, that's messed up to just change the number leaving the message to say "listed at x", Definitely dishonest. I've had great success using the copy/paste message and adding my own "-offer y" on the end.

I've been fortunate so far in not having so many items to sell that I couldn't remember the price because people are always doing wacky shit. Buyout priced tabs seems like the way to go if you're selling a bunch of stuff.

Ok, I'll lend you a hand here, English can be confusing sometimes.

Someone messaged me offering to buy a jewel I had listed on poe.trade for 4 chaos.

double check my thread; it's listed for 5 chaos.

Long story short : he changed the copy/past poe.trade message to slightly lower than posted price, hoping I would just read the message, assume it was what I had it listed for, and he would save/scam 1 chaos.

He didn't make an offer for the price, he offered to buy it, and lied about the b/o. This is completely unambiguous. You can argue that it was a mistake/typo on his part, but you cannot argue that it was a bargaining offer.
