[2.1] The Aylardex Mind over matter Cold snapper. w/ videos

I have been leveling with a Storm Prison and Lifesprig. Freeze Pulse is used to generate the charges, I get extended periods of Cold Snap clearing. Currently level 46. I can atest that it is very nice play.

Looking forward to level 60 for the Romira's.

A 5L Pledge is already waiting for this build.
Sorry to everyone who posted, I was really busy with school and had to put POE on the back burner for a while. I will return to updating my build and answering questions now.

Hi, I been playing your build the last week and currently is at level 79. Does the dual Void Batteries gives you that much more DPS? I'm doing 2,687 tooltip dps dual wielding two fairly good wands, I have taken heart of ice, I'm one point away from breath of rime and not yet taken dark arts. I'm running a 5L non carcass chest on a level 18 cold snap. I can see maybe doing low 4,000 dps at level 90 with a leveled up gem. I'm doing mostly tier 7 and 8 maps right now and I have to skip some boss fights, even high life magic monsters takes a little while to take down. My character's name is BexDohaeris if you want to take a look at my gears. I love the playstyle but I'm not sure if I want to continue leveling.

edit: With herald of ice my dps goes up to 2,965.

Hmm I might have to change Void batteries to a required unique if that is the case for everyone else. I recall doing t9-10 maps with rare wands though.

While void batteries push this build to its full potential, I find Surgebinder gloves to be a pretty sweet upgrade to DPS (since I have yet to acquire void batteries)

Any thoughts?

I think it maybe too hard to get all the resist we need with just the Helm and ring and boot slot. But its possible with very good gear.

Also ive been running one mana potion and it works like a charm.

Yea I actually used surge binders for a while, It works with the build but the main issue is that it doesn't give much in terms of defenses. If you can still sort out your life, mana, and resistances with the few rares you have Surgebinders is a good dps item before getting a void battery.

As for Lavianga's Spirit, I actually haven't thought about using that. It seems like a perfect flask for the build. I'll try to get one and see how it works.

In terms of mapping, what's the highest tier I can achieve without the dual void batteries?

I was able to reach t9-10 maps with rare wands. However, there was another poster here who said they only got to t7-8 maps with rares only. Thinking about it now I probably should move void batteries to the required unique section.

I don't think you can reach t12+ maps without at least one.

Viable to Hardcore? If no, please let me know what I should change on Tree and Items to make it work.
Thank you for the build

I am a SC player so take my advice with that in mind. I think this build can be used in HC, but as a scion and not a witch.

This is a rough outline of what I would get as scion
Skill tree
Spoiler

In the scion jewel socket I would place Healthy Mind. Also, I would spec into endurance charges and more life. The endurance charges can be gained through either swapping frostbite with warlord's mark or by using enduring cry alongside rallying cry. In my original build the jewels I used were strait up cold and spell damage. In HC, I would recommend getting life and spell damage instead. In total that would be 162% life from tree and 24% from jewels which I think should be enough for HC.

This is speculation though, since I don't have a character in end game HC. I don't know if this would be sacrificing too much dps.

Thank you for looking into my build!

I'm strongly considering using this build when Ascendancy comes out. The Hierophant seems like it would be a viable Ascendancy class for this build, primarily because of the bonus mana, 10% damage from mana and gaining ES based on your mana pool. I considered the 20% ele pen from Helm and using something like Rimegaze, but Carcass Jack just cannot be not used on an AOE caster. Though it depends how many points we get to spend on the tree.

Instead this build will probably work better with one of the unannounced Witch classes that will be Power Charge orientated.

Yea I think Hierophant might be the ascendancy class to pick for this build. I'm biased towards playing as a witch for spell casters though so I'm hoping the elemental witch class will work great with this build.

Also is Hypothermia actually worth it? It's really good on paper but how does it actually function? Does the first cold snap on an enemy get the bonus damage considering they aren't chilled yet? Does a frozen enemy count as being chilled? Would a boss with high HP prevent it from working due to the fact they are hard to chill? I can't find any info on that. I also wonder what a level 3 Empower would do in the 6L somewhere when having 10 power charges.

I believe Hypothermia is definitely worth it. It gives a more multiplier without decreasing aoe. It gives 10% chance to freeze against chilled enemies. Against bosses that cold snap can't reliably chill I use an arctic breath totem that chills them to get the bonus. According to the wiki a frozen enemy does count as being chilled. The downside is that it doesn't apply to the first cold snap but I don't see that as a major concern as when swapping it for concentrated effect I actually clear slower.

New Witch ascendancy class info came out. I would take Elementalist for the ele prolif or the templar hierophant class for another Mind over matter effect.

Just using potions. You can use life leech if you want. I don't think it is necessary.
