Gifting of MTX's almost a thing now

Despite it being the opposite of what GGG have been saying for years it's apparently almost ready...and would you believe it, it's another thing posted on reddit and not here.

We implemented gifting and have been using it on the Taiwanese realm for a year or so. It didn't lead to a rise in RMT/side-transactions like we feared. How do people feel about us enabling it on our main realm?

Edit: To clarify, the way gifting works is that when you're buying a microtransaction with points, you can choose for it to instead go to someone on your friends list. They receive a wrapped gift that they can open up. You can't gift old purchases.

Reddit post says can't gift old purchese only new ones ... that's even more Cash > Gear . Thare would still be a risk involved sure like cross leauge trading but that is not going to stop Pay2Win aspects of creeping into the game.

I'm torn about this.

I think it's a dangerous move even if only because it will be viewed as going p2w.
Even if it's not, people are going to utilize it as an argument.

On the other hand, i could get a dog from somebody out of nowhere.

So yeah, not an easy choice and certainly not with an obvious outcome. I guess its going to be a simple math conundrum which yields the most profits etc and GGG is most likely going to pursue that route.

If there is potential for rules to be abused you can guarantee they will be. This is a bad idea which is exactly why it will probably come to pass.

Now, the question is, which RMTer (selling side) would like an MTX instead of real money? Since you can't gift stuff you already have, only new MTXs, you can't sell your MTXs at a discount price to get rid of them.
Ergo, anyone doing this will very soon have every MTX there is (or at least in the range that items go by) and there won't be any incentive for them to get more - if there is in the first place.

Lets say i'm new to the game...i have money and i want gear, a player has gear and want's MTX's.....

Ohh look, RMT, it only keeps it out of the hands of the RMT companies not stop it completely.
GGG would have more work for themselves because the should be checking each gifting, and when they ban them for RMT they would be spending extra time dealing with that and more time again for the inevitable "i used a game feature and got banned for no reason posts" that be popping up.


Now lets take it further, Temp leagues with some large prizes...whats to stop a streamer from asking on stream for gear for the reward of MTX's?
Now it already happens to a degree with the more popular streamers being gifted gear by fans, which pisses people off already, but now having something that would let almost anyone who had the money to buy their way up the ladder with uber gear...shit storm waiting to happen.
