Re-Rethinking Gold as a Currency
Yes this discussion is moot because your only argument is "becasue the devs do not want it" which is no argument at all.

" WOW! I haven't read every post yet, but even if this is corrected its so flawed that it deserves to be corrected again. One could just as easily say, "i found this medicore item.. what can i demand for it? at best i will get is 2 goldfor it. i dont need 2 gold at all, i only need my alchemist orb -> item trashed, no trade With the currency items: I trade it for a transmutation orb. this will bring me a bit closer to my alchemist orb." Honestly, that was just sad. |

This thread is beginning to degenerate. If it continues I may have to lock it.
On topic. GGG has stated that the currency item system for trade and crafting has gone better than even they expected. I highly doubt they're even considering adding gold to the game. I personally couldn't see it adding anything to the game beyond making the economy even more complicated. If you really want some sort of gold or gold replacement then I suggest you use scrolls. That would be the closest analogue to gold as something to be common enough to be relatively worthless. Forum Sheriff

I agree 100% with you OP. Very well put. I have been thinking in the same lines myself. It would make the trading part of this game soo much smoother. Right now trading is a major hassle.
You should put this part in the first post, as it's really important and key to understanding why your proposed system is simply superior to the current one: " The argument that this is bad because "the devs don't want it" is silly. I think it's safe to assume that the devs want what's best for the game. And if the the only argument against this suggestion is that "the devs don't want it", that implies that "the devs don't want it because the dev's don't want it." Anyone can see that that is a circular argument, and thus a logical fallacy. There is no reason why trading would become "less personal" with this change. Perhaps that could be argued if they also added an automatic trading system (AH or something like that), but that is for a different thread. Last edited by Sickness#1007 on Dec 20, 2011, 11:38:49 AM

Get used to or leave it people, that simple. This thread nowhere is more valuable than a junk.
"This is too good for you, very powerful ! You want - You take"

" To be fair you are playing a closed beta. I think we'll get a better picture when the population increases after open beta starts. |

" Sure. It was a bad example. It did more to show how bad trading without an AH, or something similar, is. More people will only make it less bad, the fact that buyer and seller must be online and/or on the forums at the same time still remains. but lets not discuss this any further, and stick to the topic of implementing gold:p |

You say trading is a hassle, i don't. Is it really that hard to figure out yourself what you want to give/get for a specific item? Its the same as people want to know what the best build is.

" Harder than it needs to be. I must ask, what are the downsides of the OPs suggestion? |

" I want fusing orbs, so Ill only trade something for fusing orbs. That was hard. |
