I like Vladimir Putin. I think he's a great leader. Not only that, but he's one of the most, if not the most popular democratically elected leader anywhere in the world. Like over 80% approval among Russians. I think the Russophobia lingering from the cold war era is comical.

The opposition between the US and Russia is lamentable. There was a brief period where there was a legitimate hope that not only would the animosity be a thing of the past, but that Russia would become part of NATO. Yeah, it seems far fetched now, but for a brief period of a couple years it was a possibility.

*sigh*

That´s why. This is probably going to cause wars and migration that we´ve never seen before. Many people are about to die, ofc not in the rich industrialized countries - including my own - who are responsible.

I wouldn´t use this comparison because it has not happened yet.

NATO is no longer relevant or needed after the fall of the USSR. Russia today does not have anywhere near the military might the USSR in its hay day had, and yet they're being forced to position to defend themselves from NATO who's turned more into a geopolitical aggressor in recent times than a front line defense of Europe in previous times against the USSR.

Putin recently went to Finland, who's entertaining the (very unpopular) idea of joining NATO. Putin essentially makes the argument that neither side would benefit, and reminded them that the nearest Russian troops were 1500km away, and they'd be moved closer if Finland joined NATO. Russia clearly has no ambitions over Finnish territory, yet the political elite in Finland would join NATO to put pressure on Russia. Just another example of them stirring up shit with the Russians. Completely, unnecessary, geopolitical aggression.

It is a short period but it seems the scientific community is sure about it.

When scientists vote on the science, they are doing it wrong. While it may be reassuring to the public that the psychologists are sure about the geology, and the nuclear physicists are sure about the anthropology, it doesn't mean diddly squat compared to a single experiment with results.

Right now, it's less about the science, and more about a feeding trough with unlimited research funding.

Some of the options they have proposed for "fixing" things would be far worse than a complete nuclear war. Their mindset is that if one person has a leg with gangrene, that everyone in the city needs to have all their arms and legs removed right now, just in case.

Anthropomorphic global warming is a meme and many politicians and businesses profit off it.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

X-D

May I ask you what you think the definition of anthropomorphism is?

Far from 'really bad' then.
The Wheel of Nerfs turns, and builds come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the build that gave it birth comes again.

Had the scenario gone as hoped for, and Russia joined NATO, there would be no real questions of aggression or passive aggression by either side. As to Russian ambitions, just keep watching and you'll see that they do have plans to expand where they can.

That´s too cynical for my taste.
