Moral of this thread:
OP had a bad day and needed to be defencive about something. |

Everyone so far has seemed to miss his point. He seems to be saying that he'd rather thave the benefits of flasks be active skills instead of flasks.
A quicksilver gem. A healing gem. A mana gem. A stoneskin gem. etc. He seems to disagree with the designers' decision to make these kinds of functions part of a separate flask system instead of part of the gem active skill system. Assuming that's what he means, I don't really agree with him. I like the mechanic of the flask system, and I think flask management is designed well. It can be partaken of with various levels of expertise and efficiency, which allows players with varying degrees of skill/interest to get what benefits from it that they can. It also frees up gem slots for the more action-oriented active skills and their modifiers. I still don't see anything wrong with his original criticism, though, and it seems to come down to a matter of preference and taste. |

" Thats what i took from his complaints. Still, this generation of gamers are rather nitpicky. Could you imagine being so finnicky when gaming in the 90s?? These gamers today woul dhave a heart attack. |

I am effectively using all 5 of my pots most of the time. If nothing else i would like more slots for more quicksilver flasks :P

I was searching for old info, and stumbled across this thread. I wanted to put my 2 cents in without creating another thread.
I like that they've introduced flasks in PoE. It gives us something else to invest our thought into. They're better than consumable potions, because of the customization, and they're not limited to class, so they're valuable to everyone. As for the number of flasks existing in the game, I'd actually like to see them keep introducing more types to keep things interesting. It allows for experimentation through trial and error to see what works best for you. So, far I've managed to find a couple rejuvenation flasks, so I'm swapping those out for my health and manas. I haven't given quicksilver too much of a chance, and haven't lucked out on a granite yet. |

Yeah I find this thread to be most laughable. First no one is making put all of the slots to use. Also making the comment "This game is too complex for me, dumb it down so I can play" is a comment a child makes, regardless of age. Next he will be complaining that the skill tree is too large or there are too many skills.

i thought we had put this thread to sleep. damnnit.
anyhoo ... moreso than the refillable-on-enemy-kill-flask-tech that GGG employ I reckon the ability to have mods on them is pure genius. flaks + mods = extremely interesting results like slow release mana with added armour i <3 flasks. |

I don't tend to use the flask function that much. Mainly because I belong to the school that states that if you're overdosing on healing potions then you're likely doing something wrong. In almost every RPG I've ever played I use them briefly at the start of a game while I get the hang of the mechanics, then just use them when I get impatient with evasion tactics or can't be bothered to buff, then, for the rest of the game, just store them up for rediculous HP boss fights.
In PoE it's the same but I can't store them for boss fights, I'm limited, and the bosses hit so hard anyway they tend to out-damage the potion anyway. I always use Mana-Regen % rather than Mana Flasks. The elemental flasks only last puny seconds, as does the granite. How you're supposed to know when the effect has started/ended is beyond me, have they fixed that yet? I don't use them so I don't know. The haste flask looks cool but I play with perma-lag so it's useless to me in my current play-state. I do like the remove buring/freezing mods though, this is how my flasks usually end up lined up. I do miss the good ol' invisibility potion though. Every RPG should have an invisible/stealth option IMO, though for PoE it's prob only last 5 seconds that would still be enough to retreat and regroup in most scenarios. |
