Unnecessary amount of flask slots
|
Am I the only one who thinks it to be completely unnecessary how many flask slots there are, and the complexity it brings about? If you're awesome at the game and have played games with far more to keep track of, that's great, but try to think about if it's necessary, not if you are able to do it.
Really, why 5 flask slots? Flasks are almost like their own skills. I find it unnecessarily complicated to have to get used to managing 5 flasks. I'd rather manage and get better at skills. And although this is the forum and not the global chat (nightmare talking about this in global), I will say that if any of you want to have a "LOL casual noob can't play" themed post, don't bother. We get it, you're really good at the game and nothing could possibly be wrong if you can do it. What do you think? EDIT: I was told incorrect information in the chat by multiple people, and deleted the part about flask stacking I said. Flasks queue up if you hit multiple at once, which allows for flask mashing. It just uses the one with the most per second first. That's good. Last edited by PackersFTW#3100 on Feb 14, 2013, 4:24:30 PM

You could just use 3 of the slots

perhaps you should just put the same flask (type, and mods) in each of the five slots.
that ought to remove the confusion for you, just mash the button for whichever one is full. |

Well 1. If you cant manage 5 flasks, just equip what you can manage.
2, there are 5 flask spots so you can use things like 1 instant flask, 1 dispel frozen flask, a granite flask, a quicksilver flask and whatever else you want. It's extremely helpful. |

" I don't think it would be fair to make that assertion. I do agree that having to deal with 5 flasks with 5 different mods on them in the most optimal way is quite hard to do. However, even though I'm not that good at flask management myself, I like that this is a part of the game where there is a high skill ceiling. This is because a higher skill ceiling gives the player greater room to improve and feel a sense of accomplishment at becoming better at the game Anyway, here are some tips/tricks that I've found to be quite useful for flask management: -Bind HP and Mana flasks to separate rows of keyboard buttons to prevent yourself from accidentally using the wrong type of flask. I currenty have 1,2,3 for HP and S,D for Mana. -If you often use a certain type of flask, for example, instant HP flasks, always keep them bound to the same button. This way in an emergency, I know that my panic button is 1 and I will be able to press it quickly -Don't spend time thinking about which flask to use, just rely on muscle memory and press whichever button your fingers feel like pressing. This may sound counter-intuitive to optimizing flask usage, but keep in mind that flask charges are easy to come by, but time in the middle of a hectic combat is usually not. Eventually, you will develop good muscle memory that helps you optimize your flask usage, but that takes time, and you don't wnat to be dying in the meantime. Alteration Orb Union Local #7

" Custom keybinds RULE! I use QWERT instead of 12345. Muscle memory from other games helps(3 years of WoW among others) ~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.

I think its a fine and interesting mechanic and enjoy it. I have never once thought it was too much for me to handle.

People will whine and/or complain about anything.
This reminds me of a time when Skyrim had just come out, and someone posted on the forums about how they were deathly afraid of spiders and the game should let them change the models on the spiders - because it wasn't fair to people with arachnophobia... and they were serious. |

" LOL, I think I've seen a thread like this on these forums too, complaining about all the spiders in PoE. Alteration Orb Union Local #7
