[2.1] Shockwave totems (HC build)

Tested it. Took the exact same stuff linked in the first post into Atziri...and couldn't get past the Vaals.

Some of it is damage. Between a 5L, non-max-level gems and Hypothermia not really working on super tanky packs and bosses, there's no way I was coming even close to the maximum potential build DPS, and it showed. Some of it...is just me being bad at Atziri running in general. I have trouble with Atziri on a cookie cutter tshot build with standard-level gear, seriously, I'm bad. And I guess the rest of it would be shocktotems not actually being spectacular at single target. Which is a surmountable obstacle, I think, but serves me right for jumping into it without preparation.

@krc86, can you post your gear and stats? I mentioned in the first post that I was thinking of taking mana regen and going hybrid ES for more survivability, and it seems you've managed to make one - I'm super interested in seeing it!

Didnt shockwave get a 20% boost a few days ago? I just rolled this, and am enjoying the dps for now. Its much higher then what I remember it from last season, although we didn't have hypothermia gems then. I'm Lvl 65'ish and have had no issues leveling with this. I have felt a little squishy since taking EB though, but that's when I started using AA, which has helped. I do also miss the lack of cast speed built into the items we are selecting due to prioritizing crit over cast speed, but...crit does make up for the slower cast in every way. Mobs shatter 80% of the time..its an awesome thing.

The moments I felt most in danger before the switch were the times I attempted to raise a totem between me and the mob, went "oh shit no mana", hit a potion, and then kited a bit more before being able to actually place a second totem.

And hey, if you want to pick cspd over crit, go right ahead. My reason for going the spell crit dagger route was...it's a hell of a lot cheaper...I'm brilliant, I know.

I'm glad you like the build!

Was the lack of armor/evasion ever a big issue to watch out for? Asking to see if I should take a granite flask with me.
Of course you bring a granite, everyone brings a granite. But it's an oh shit flask, it's not something you expect to need frequently. No I never needed to watch out for lack of ar/ev.

Can you explain a little better your defenses? this character is going to have high Life plus a little of ES? should I focus in item with armor/es or pure es?
Life. The idea is that, as a totem build, if you get hit by things that kill you, you're doing it wrong anyway. The ES is for casting, unless you also take MoM in which case it'll extend your HP pool by a little.

Update to first post: I was informed that my guildie played a shockwave totem build and was absolutely destroying stuff. Steelmage was using SWT - added fire - phys to light - faster casting - increased aoe. I've added his passive tree to the OP, too.

Hi, i have been playing this for couple of days and i must say im happy with it. All maps i have been tested so far done easly. There is a small issue with this build when you get to point with 6 link. The mana pool / or ES with Eldrich Battery mess a bit with your skill rotation. You may need pair of Elreon Rings or think about going on with Blood Magic with your totem skill. But thats ofcourse for some sick endgame setup like i was testing.

Pretty solid and strong build, had great fun testing and playing :)

My current gear:

Weapons and offset:

Armor:

Trinkets:

Flasks:

TL;DR Dual Divinarius is a not the best option. The only reason i have been playing dual wielding was 2 great jewels i found in my gearing process: (both) more 15% spell dmg while dualwielding + 10%-12% more area dmg.

PS. Somebody was asking about Atziri - easy mode ;)

Should be no significant change to the guide in 2.1.0, except of course the buffs to shockwave.

Was reading this guide Kiri, and realised halfway through that you had written it :)

Nice work, I'll probably go it for Talisman :)
