99% of the loot in this game is actually pretty horrible.

You just have stop looking for that "omfg now I am rich" drop or even that "hey! thats worth at least 1 exalt" and be happy every time you find a 6 socket item or a gcp / chaos. That currency always adds up. I have never played a league in which I couldn't afford to buy almost anything just from the currency I made from picking up rares / 6 sockets / item that gives a chromatic etc. etc. etc. Its easy.

...Anyone whos watched my stream knows I do that.

Best bling i got left. Out of ... 1000-2000 blings dropped. But i'm ok with that, as it makes really good items really good.

It's much higher than 99%. I'd say it's fairly common to find 100+ items in about 2-3 minutes; 1% means you'd find something useful every couple minutes.

Keep in mind, though, we can only equip 10 pieces of gear at a time. We're never going to find a high percentage of good items when a complete set of gear only takes about 10 seconds to drop, or less.
Once you trade for something, you will be disappointed with drops. That's because you'll only trade for something that you feel is better than you could have gotten from drops.

So start playing solo/self-found if you want to base your enjoyment of the game on the satisfaction of finding a nice drop.

is it hard to find gear , to make the average build good enough for higher maps ?
-> No

loot is fine then.

You can not drop physical wand for urself, it's an average build.
There's always two things I buy for a character:
A 300-400 DpS weapon (1h/2h) of the type I want.
A cheap 5L chest.

You will not self-find those in a reasonable time, but can trade for them quite cheap.
And they let you enter and beat higher level content.

The rest, I generally try to accomplish on my own.

That way I find lots and lots of upgrades, since it's not too hard to upgrade stuff like this (currently wearing in warbands):

Once you are truely geared up (iE high life + resists + other useful stuff in every slot), it's pretty much impossible to find any upgrades for yourself.
But that's to be expected, since your items are already in the top 1%. So it's kind of obvious you will have a hard time finding better stuff.

Are you sure you're talking about PoE? Or are you in the wrong forum and actually talking about D3?
6S? Yeah I"m sure you find a 6S every 5 minutes right? GCP/Chaos rare? Lol. Good luck finding even ONE of those after an entire map.

"Rares" are not rare in this game, and 99.99999% of the time they have absolutely trash rolls/sockets, and that's the problem. Back in D2 whenever a yellow item drops you'd actually be excited because it's, uhhh, rare and you know it's gonna be better than your blue item?? In PoE when was the last time people were excited a rare dropped? Like probably never. This is the result of not having any baseline to how crappy their roll can get. Whoever made it so that a high level rare can roll +1 mana is seriously a @#%*.

Hey if you can survive endgame content with the stuff you find as drops, then no problem. But can you? Not by 352357901245709 miles. Lol yeah try doing even a level 68 map with the garbage 100DPS bow you find as a drop. Now try to fight merciless Malachai with drops only. LOL, that'd be amusing to watch. I highly doubt you'd be even able to finish the fight after I wake up from a nap.

....in softcore sure.
Noblesse oblige
You don't find Chaos orbs and Chromes very often. But you find loads of RGB items that sell for a chrome, you find loads of rares on a map you can sell for a chaos or more (vendor recipe), and 6S are really common on maps.

And as others said, the more you trade for good stuff, the less better stuff you'll find, and the more good stuff you've already found, the less you will find - unless you're perhaps planning for another character.

Possible solutions:
less drops, 50% of rare items that do drop depend on what you wear and, for example have the same stats except for one, so that you can go from, say, 29 fire resist to 30. It's an item that is slightly better than yours, you can use it and feel you have upgraded your gear.
Dunno how much fun that is - you'll definitely hit the "only trash" phase later

hardly any rare drops, expensive but elaborate crafting, magic items, rares and uniques can be transformed into real crafting material (for example, you sell 3 items with +%physdam, you get a sort of orb that gives +1-2% physdam when used on a weapon, you can use those multiple times so you can get 1xx% physdam. Would have to be balanced in a way that you can over time create great items, but without cheesing the game too much. D2 MedianXL has something like that.

Like it. Right now rares almost have less appeal than blues, only because of the fact that I have to pick them up to find out that they are garbage compared to magic ones where I know from the outset they are junk :) Many rares are that bad, that I could roll blues with very limited currency and would come up with a more usable item. Those kind of rares should not drop at all, rather cut the loot amount by factor 10 than this nonsense we have right now.
