[BUILDS]Come in here to discuss/boast/brag/get advice/give advice on your Builds!
_______________________________________________________ Was looking around the forum for a specific thread for beta players to discuss builds and skill usage in conjunction with one another. Doesn't seem that there's a similar thread around. *****(UPDATE)***** [BUILDS]Come in here to discuss/boast/brag/get advice/give advice on your Builds! _______________________________________________________ Currently I've rethought my build and noticed what works and what doesn't. Ranger-> Duelist: Survivability was a great issue when playing the ranger class. I've restarted and made a duelist, working with the same principles, but a whole different way to deal damage. The focus will not just be frenzy charges but both endurance and frenzy, the goal is to be able to stack both 6 frenzy and 6 endurance. (8 endurance with Kaom's Rings) Discharge (Damage): Focus in damage will be huge spikes in damage as most of the damage output will be from Discharging charges. Weapon damage is less consequential but daggers will be the preferred weapon of choice instead of wands. Discharge will be linked to either a mix of Critical chance, concentrate, aoe radius, critical damage support but the support gem "cold damage to fire damage" is a definite must. Survivability(Immortal Call/Enduring Cry): Essential to survivability, this two skills would be used very often and mostly at the start of the nuke chain. Lightning Warp: Taken out of build, I have identified the crashing issues with the previous ranger build, apparently casting while under the effects of the warp has a chance of causing your game to crash. Flicker Strike: More of a utility skill now instead of for damage. Its used to clear the distance between you and casters so you can unload a massive nuke that generally kills all ranged casters/archers/pesky insects with ease. Frenzy: To build charges with, linked just with faster attacks so the build up is quicker. Elemental weakness: Self explanatory, would also prefer to have Critical Weakness but don't have enough hotkey slots for that. Phase run: With 6 frenzy charges, move speed passives, and boots with move speed. Your speed is unparalled, use it in conjunction with flicker and immortal call to get past big groups with elemental reflect aura passives. _______________________________________________________ Overview Progress: I'm currently level 59 (wanted to get to 60... but kept screwing around till I got the ideal setup, kept dying as a consequence ):< ) _______________________________________________________ Weapons: 2x Daggers (Daggers must be either Krises or Wraeclast Daggers, both of which have a 80% crit chance to all damage as an inherent mod, they must also have spell damage and attack speed and ideally Intelligence) _______________________________________________________ Equipment: Survivability now isn't a big issue, hence a great focus is on armor mods. I'll still stick to the level 60 Str armors though. Because they look cool and I've got 70% spell crit chance mods on them with Cold damage increase. It would be best to have intelligence and max mana/health mods on them, but you can't have the world. Still aiming to have Kaom's Rings. (will add 2 max Endurance Charges, strength, health and lifesteal) Onyx Necklace with Cold/Fire damage and Intelligence. Belt with intelligence. (level 60) Item Setup: Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable _______________________________________________________ Passive Point Allocation: Currently going for 6 of the available frenzy charge passives (those closer to the duelist tree) but aiming to get all 8 by... level 86 (theoretically) Also going for 6 of the available endurance charges. Will cover 45% increase in buff duration will attaining these charges to aid in Immortal Call. To get all 6/6 charges you must kill all the bandits for every difficulty. I've considering the 8% resistance for aiding Kraitan but considering that it would raise the required level for this build to hit 6/6 I'd rather killing all bandits for the extra 4 points. To achieve 6/6 (after doing all the quests that reward points) you'll have to reach level 68. _______________________________________________________ Skill Bar: Frenzy, (considering Viper Strike to clear elemental damage reflect bosses) Flicker Strike, Discharge Immortal Call, Enduring Cry, Phase Run, Elemental Weakness _______________________________________________________ Backup skills: Viper Strike (read above) _______________________________________________________ Playstyle: Fast paced. Still stressful (but fine if you like the pressure). Its a high maintanence, high performance build that requires you to be 100% focused on the scenario. Start by luring a group of 20-30 enemies together using Immortal Call, Flicker Strike and Phase Run. Debuffs: Elemental Weakness Frenzy to stack frenzy charges. Enduring Cry to stack endurance charges. Flicker to high priority targets (they must already be affected by elemental weakness). Discharge to nuke. (Watch everything die) Take note that Immortal Call does not block spell damage. Always get rid of casters first and formost (attempt to cluster them together) Kill stragglers (single targets, bosses) by casting immortal call, elemental weakness and frenzy to stack charges. Then use just the frenzy charge discharging to nuke single targets. Build Rating: Fun: 8 Survivability: 9 Killing Speed: 10 Complexity: 10 *****(UPDATE)***** Build Images and DPS image at level 70: (long overdue but D:<) http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/21/58385520.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/266/27930008.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/59/31802549.png/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzudxtilpQP_CzgbmkYmW4w Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/uberj4ger Last edited by Sareth#5930 on Dec 2, 2011, 11:02:35 PM

I want to try this build! Sounds like epic fun. Anybody else come up with cool stuff like this?
Balance & Design
| |
Elemental Weakness, Critical Weakness, base critical hit rate of 23%, critical strike damage multiplier of 300%, firing Ice Spears at 211-311 damage each.
I'm one-shotting Ruthless mobs, and rares/bosses aren't giving me any grief. IRON MAN

@dreggon. >.> Won't it be boring if you just use only 1 skill?
Added Note: Just got discharge. Most. Pro. Thing. Ever. Youtube:

Skills: ice spear(+cast gem), cold snap (+aoe gem), temporal chains(+aoe gem) (all base gems)
summons: 6 zombies, 6 spectres using +minion speed gem (have others but lack connected socket items). passives: all 3 AOE groups (less 1 node), going through the minion buff passives. +5 mana/kill group was a huge benefit while leveling. Comments: great for hardcore, only a few stray arrows hit me. Kills groups/bosses effectively. Minions don't add much beyond fodder, and I don't bother summoning at times. The boosted crit from ice spear handles single targets fine. No mana issues at all. Still using below flask and 1 mana flask, neve run out. Good balance between sustained damage output and high survivability. Room for improvement. Equipment of note: +recharge on crit vial. Even at base crit of 5% + ice spear bonus i can essentially mash that vial endlessly against bosses/reflect auras. All items are "ok" |

Title: generic farming/skill testing caster templar
Current Mouse Skills: • Cold Snap (Add lightning, Cold to Fire) • Ice Nova (Add Cold, Cold to Fire) • Elemental weakness Keyboard Skills: • Summon Zombie (Minion Speed) • --- • Lightning Warp (Knockback) • Phase Run (Increased Duration) • Town Portal Passive tree: ![]() Current Items: Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Character notes: Lacking at the moment/objective for final gear: • 100%+ Cast Speed • 60%+ hit/block recovery • 30%+ move speed • 300%+ Mana regeneration • 200% - 300% spell critical chance This is a farming build that can use any spell at anytime i was thinking on switching cold snap to firestorm(Concentrate damage, Add Cold, Add Lightning, Increased Duration) for single target/boss killing but lacking gear atm to do this. overall should be a fun char to farm stuff whan done, althou has a pretty rought start because of all the stat nodes in the passive tree. Here's my current Dual Wielding Frenzy Charge Deulist. Currently I'm lvl 52 on Merciless. The point of this build was to get all 8 Frenzy Charges to see how fast characters can get. I took the 6 Dual wield nodes at the deulist start for an easier time in the beginning and after that took the shortest route possible to get every Frenzy node.
This build is 100% not viable in hardcore the way i've built it so far. Armor/Evasion/Health are incredibly low. Getting 1HKO'd by a strong rare is bound to happen. One problem is the lack of gems for this build. Just about every Red Support requires too much str, so you're stuck with basic skills like cleave and the rest are Green gems. But, this build is still inredibly fast, fun, and powerful. I can generally out kill any other character, even witches. Witches do tons more damage, but I'm so fast that it really doesnt matter. The only difference is that witches have ES and can take a lot more hits than I can. My target path is highlighted in red on the tree. Right now I have 7 Frenzy Charges. just need a few more points to get the 8th, and then I'm going to invest in health/armor as damage output is just fine as well as accuracy(thanks to 400+ dex). ![]() Skills: Blood Rage - MUST HAVE, this skill is running 24/7 time Dual Strike - For singling out pesky Rare aura mobs such as Physical/Elemental reflect, life regen, and Alira. It's especially important to attack and ONLY attack Alira and the reflects as you'll end up killing yourself. Cleave - Bread and Butter skill. Wipes out mobs in the blink of an eye. Flicker Strike - Very important for getting to those ranged enemies and picking off stragglers Temporal Chains - MUST HAVE for this build. This build essentially has no defense, so the slower you can make the enemies the better Warlord's Mark - Helps keep HP topped off as well as mana. mana consumption is very high as you'll be attacking 4x times a second. Phase Run - Helps to get out of sticky situations Frenzy - MUST HAVE for solo bosses/rares as you dont have extra enemies to kill with blood rage on Supports: Added Cold Damage - MUST HAVE. With the insane attack speed this build has, critical strikes happen and happen often. The ability to shatter your enemy is crucial. The quicker they die, the less time they have to hit you. Faster Attacks - You can never have enough attack speed. If you have enough str: Life Leech/Life gain on hit - The ridiculous attack speed this build has ensures that you're hitting a lot, and every hit will net you precious health Increased Duration - Especially useful for Temp Chains and Blood Rage. Melee Physical - Best defense is a good offense. Knockback - anything you can do to prevent enemies from getting too close Cold to Fire - Useful if you can get a fire crit, enemies fleeing away from you while on fire preserves that vital health Don't even attempt int gems, you will not have enough int to equip them Gear: Weapons - Dexterity based swords are what you're going to want. Even if you get a str/dex sword with super high damage, generally the faster dex swords will net you higher dps. After all, this build is about being super fast. Look for increasd damage, crit chance, crit damage, cold damage, life leech, mana leech, and attack speed Armor/Acessories - From my experience so far, armor is better than evasion but evasion is not useless. Its best to go for the str/dex armor to make use of both. You'll have enough armor to survive most hits and enough evasion to avoid quite a bit. Look for basically the same mods as weapons but also increased armor/evasion as well as movement speed and Strenght to equip those red supports. I use what I find so most of my gear is crap and some of the gems are only socketed for various testing reasons. rarely do I ever pick up trades from global chat unless its clearly an upgrade. However, its extremely important to get the best weapons possible. In my case offense>defense. If you have a funded character and get the gear you want, this build would be sooooo much more powerful and viable.
I'm also looking into the effectiveness of getting all charges first vs branching off earlier in favor of survivability. It seems to me that it might be better to hold off on the 7th/8th charges until passives for health/armor/evasion/damage are invested in first. There isn't a ton of difference between 5-6 charges and 6-7. but overall from 5-7 its definitely noticeable. Weapons: Unavailable Unavailable Armor: Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Accessories: Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable I really wish i had better accessories save maybe the 1st ring. but I need the +str on the belt to equip my cleave and warlords mark and i just havent found a better 2nd ring.
