[BUILDS]Come in here to discuss/boast/brag/get advice/give advice on your Builds!

My character is a dual dagger wielding ranger, like the OP's but it plays different.

Why Daggers?
They are fast and have high chance to crit/crit chance bonus.

I'm skipping their phisical damage component though because i want to focus on elemental damage.

Armor
Going for evasion or evasion/ES gear to get a good evasion without wasting the skill points invested into INT.

Things to look for are spell and elemental damage/crit bonuses, mana, all kinds of speeds (attack, cast, movement, block/stun recovery) and i've noticed that some health regen helps a lot even without big amounts because my health is very low.

Passives

I've taken some attack/movement speed increases and crit chance without going for entire groups due to diminishing returns, then i went for the 2 nearest frenzy charge nodes and now I'm on my way to the power charge on melee crit one, I'll be there at level 50-52 more or less.

Skills
This is the skill setup i've planned, i still miss most of the supports though because i don't have the right sockets or enough mana to use them.

-Left Mouse: Frenzy (possible supports: crit chance, attack speed, accuracy)
-Middle Mouse: Viper strike (added chaos damage)
-Left Mouse: Ice spear (faster cast, pierce and/or multiple projectile)

-Keyboard:
Elemental Weakness (more AoE, duration seems ok)
Temporal CHains (same as EW)
Enduring Cry (faster casting)
Discharge (chance to ignite, crit chance, maybe something else)
Phase Run (don't feel the need for specific supports, might switch this with lightning warp but i need to test it first)

Strategies

Base Strategy:
- Phase run near a group and cast enduring cry
- take safe position, cast curses and a few ice spears if there are a lot of ranged that need to be frozen/slowed more
- frenzy on the nearest enemy, you should get all frenzy charges and 2-3 power charges very easily
- Phase run at the center of the group, cast Discharge and whatch everything melt :)

Big Swarms
Groups af many klittle monsters can be deadly because the build focuses on evasion and has low hp, so a good tactic after cursing them is:
-cast enduring cry (it will certainly give you 2 charges) and cast discharge witout getting in melee, most of the times that's enough to kill all/most or at least set them on fire so that they run away. repeat another time if it's not enough, anyway it's usually safe and effective.

AoE Freeze

If I want to immediately have a high slow effect on enemies I curse them than cast discharge after the fisrt frenzy charge to get the freeze effect, it wil last long enough to let me finish my combo

Viper Strike
It is situational and i consider it a life saver in many fights.
It is great because it allows to get a sustained dps without having to be in melee.
Very usefu against:
- Regen bosses, they usually also hit very hard so it is not always possible to melee them
- Elemental reflect bosses, I can't use the main damage source otherwise I get instakilled so I first need to kill the big guy, with this skill
- ES bosses, obviously, the added chaos damage helps a lot here
- Generally high damaging and Act bosses, combined with phase run and ice spear (temporal chains & ice spear from far away, phase run in, viper strike, run away, repeat until the boss is dead). notice that most times i don't even need this tactic because i can tank the boss once it's left alone.

General thoughts:
- The build needs a lot of focus and very good timing as mistakes easily turn into death but it is very fastpaced and fun if played right. I've read people writing that Discharge is a silly skill because it does not involve strategy in it, but as you can see this is not the case :P.

- I still need to test how the build works with lightning warp, haven't got the gem yet. I might replace either phase run or ice spear.

@RaffoBaffo

that's basicly the build i have (but with claws), but you will notice a few things in highlevel or chaosplay. first of all you will shift even more into elemental damage, since viper strike won't do enough damage elementalwise and ofc physicalwise.

that will also resulst into a painfull frenzyfarming all the time to build up some elemantal power. and since you're a melee you will get blockstunned over and over and get (atleast for me) a lot of syncing problems, caused by too much parameters to calculate by the game.
you could use wands, since they can build up frenzy on range, the ias affects that aswell.

so you will end up as a poor caster/witch type of char with always too less mana to build up power :P. challenging indeed
Hey guys I've just started on the beta a few hours ago and before spending my passive skills I thought I'd seek some advice on which path to choose since it's rather overwhelming to look at :P
Basicly I'm looking for know what to do for my playstyle, I like to have be pretty tanky, mainly by having high evasion or block. While still dishing out nice damage.
Currently I'm levelling a duelist cause that seemed to fit but beyond that I'm rather clueless on what is the most viable setup for solo play.
Need to know like which weapons and armour I should choose, also which passive path to go.
Any advice is greatly appreciated :-)
Sareth, can you take a snapshot of your discharge dualist skill tree when you get a chance? thanks in advance if you can.
Running isn't freedom. You should know that.
ighnaz - Thanks for the beta key!!!!
I HAVE NO MORE BETA KEYS!!
Will take a screenshot of that and the dps on discharge once I hit 68. :P

Can't have you munching on a half baked cookie.

I'm only 26-ish, not that high level, but I find my current build is doing well.

Blood Rage:
active to get Frenzy charges and life steal

Flicker Strike(Supported by Added Fire Dmg):
my main dmg dealer. With Blood Rage and a two-handed weapon, all I have to do is hold down my right mouse buttom and drink mana(mostly)/hp potions and wait till everthing dies.

the dmg could be improved by some other gem/s but i dont have the means to do so.

I only use these two spells, and since Flicker Strike is a teleport attack and it teleports at random(as far as i can tell) then I will be able to "dodge" a lot of the ranged attacks if not cornered.

And I'm stacking Armour as defense.

that's sick. very nice sareth. you actually could have acheived the charges 2 lvls earlier. that's kind of moot though, lol.

discharge gets a damage reduction in .94, but charges on kill will be working. I'm interested to see what you do with it. Blood rage can keep you with 6 charges at all times.
