What is most immersion breaking in POE?
The monster diversity killed the immersion for me..
Back in closed beta, each zone was unique, and had its own personality.. The leaping goatmen could be found in rocky climb, the snakes could be found in the forests, the cave beasts could be found in the caves, the sirens could be found in the submerged passages, and vaal swordsmen could be found in the vaal ruins.. Now, everything is everywhere.. There is just no uniqueness to an area.. This, in my opinion, is the worst of a few bad decisions made by GGG (one of the others being renaming the monster affixes to make it unclear) | |

strongbox + exile = your screen freeze and u die ...such immersion!
strongbox + packsize + we pop an ele reflect because we know u use some aoe spell...such immersion! strongbox + lightning wrap = you escaped and are safe for 5 sec then u are dead in the middle of the pack...such immersion! strongbox + 3000% rarity = 3 white trash + 2 magic...such immersion! inner treasure = a coral ring...such immersion! vaal oversoul = aim his punch at his left....you are at his right....safe zone...NOT. u are dead because desync...such immersion! devourers + packsize + evasive...such immersion! Glowing green mouse cursor plz.

The fact that creatures that are—according to the lore—supposed to be enemies not only don't fight each other but will, in fact, team up to kill *you* is probably the very worst one to me.

Floating damage numbers and their like (notifications that a player is the first in a new league to enter a certain instance etc) break the game immersion for ME. Read Dirk's original post where he states: "For me, ..." PoE doesn't have floating damage numbers ... yet. But they have been heavily requested before, just as monster health status bars were. IIRC, the developers did consider adding them to the game. I don't want to see them in game, as they break the immersion. When I am playing a new league and various announcements come up, they break the sense of being the character in the game. The floating damage numbers that many games have are the worst offenders, IMO, and they would break PoE's immersion so badly that I would just uninstall the game and walk away. " I disagree with this one. Used to play Everquest and had at least a 8 backpacks with over 30 slots each and no item took more than one slot. How the hell do you manage to run around and fight with 8 backpacks and carrying around over 500 pounds of crap all the time? When I first tried PoE I thought the limited inventory with large items taking more slots was brilliant! I still do. Seeing over walls into the next room, as mentioned. Would be great to see only what is in actual line of sight. Obstacles preventing movement - So annoying to be unable to whirl because of a 3" plinth in the way. Just feels dumb and annoying. Items trading over forums - just.. ugh Melee vs caster - I like melee and have always played melee characters in whatever games I've played. In PoE I'm playing a dual claw duelist and a crit dagger shadow but my best attack skill seems to be static strike for both. Just doesn't feel very melee when I click pretty much anywhere on the screen and half the room of monsters bursts into flame and shock and then explodes. I tried other attacks but the ones that feel like actual melee attacks are super WEAK compared to static strike with herald of ash. Portals! Hey let me just pop into town and completely top off my shit right in the middle of a fight. Maybe even several times... That's just wrong!! But don't get me wrong, I love this game! Super fun IMO in spite of a few things that feel kind of silly to me. |

What immersion? I only know that I'm grinding both maps and trade(good lord..) to git gud at the game.
