Newbie overwhelmed with the complexity of PoE

Hey everyone, I'm back with a couple more questions!

I've now managed to reach lvl 84 and since progress is beginning to slow down I've decided to roll a new char to keep things fresh and interesting.

So I probably got lucky and found a Soul Taker and a Bringer of Rain and I really would like to use them. Both ideally, but I'm okay with just making one of them work. But to be honest, I've got not a clue how to do that.
I saw Facebreaker builds run the Bringer of Rain but I'm not sure if that isn't too gimicky for my taste and, well, it certainly does not use a Soul Taker...

Can you guys help me out? Are there any good ST builds out there? Does the CI build with ST and Bloodletter and Dual Strike still work?

I don't like minion-builds at all. Isn't there anything else you can do with an ST?

soultaker enables you to run mana heavy skills while having all your mana reserved

so obviously mana heavy builds with lot of auras benefit the most

so u can do any 1h(axe)+shield or dual wield melee phys build

Aren't those all 1.2 builds? The Bloodseeker build sounded awesome, but as far as I understood, it doesn't work in 1.3 and there hasn't been an update.
Do these still work? If so, where can I find an updated version of the passive tree?

Soul taker isn't such an awesome weapon anymore so it's suited for builds that utilize its unique property, meaning they use extremely mana-hungry melee skills. We currently have only two unreasonably expensive skills - dominating blow and elemental hit, with the latter being almost completely pointless in current meta.

Alright. Sounds like I'd be better off just selling it...
