Yeah i had vsync on. So it turns out that Google chromes has been the problem all along. i tried playing without google chrome for like, 15 minutes and it was flawless, open google chrome on a random websites, play for a minute and the fps drops.

" New browsers are hardware accelerated... this includes both Chrome and Firefox. What "hardware accelerated" means is that they have integration with your video card to improve the rendering performance of the browser... but they also use video card resources, and it causes a lot of "context switching" when going between the game and the browser (which is expensive as an operation for a high performance card). You should probably close down anything that has any video card utilization besides the OS and the game if you want best performance. I know a lot of people don't think about their browser as being accelerated or a major user of the video card hardware.... but it is. | |

I have similar issues, albeit with a low spec laptop. It used to run fine in fullscreen with almost everything high including AA, but then after two months of not playing it suddenly runs very poorly. Other games appear to run fine so I don't believe this is a hardware issue but I could be wrong. I've tried many things including turning off Aero, running windowed, vsync on and off, post processing on and off, defragmenting my drive. I'll post all my information. I like the game, and it's also just confounding me so if anyone can take a look and offer any insight I'd appreciate it.

you can switch off "hardware acceleration support" in firefox' settings. if you have no adobe flash installed, the browser should be run fine alongside the game.
no experience with steam, wouldn't run my games over third party platforms if it's not nessessary. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
