Desync
Yes, it is a problem. You don't necessarily need to be fast moving for it to happen, though it becomes more apparent if you use movement modifying skills (Leap Slam, Heavy Strike etc.). Missing even though you should be hitting, getting hit by nothing, rubberbanding, all this happens pretty often. I wouldn't risk playing HC at this moment.
I'm sure it's on the to-do list of GGG, so don't worry too much, it should be fixed. Beta is beta, there will be bugs. |

" I'm in the same boat too. Really want to make a HC character, but it's just not possible right now, especially hard for oceanics like myself. Really sux that even a NZ studio can't source a oceanic server, I know they're more expensive, but still. All my 10 or so deaths last night were due to rubberbanding and it can get frustrating as hell. Really hope GGG can work out a solution. |

Just died to a desync and lost my HC char.
Yes, it's a problem. I've hotkeyed /oos and have to use it all the time. Once per map doesn't cut it, I'm often desynced after several seconds of fighting a mob again. This might not be so noticeable for ranged characters or totem users, but melee people will notice it very easily I want to enjoy HC, but it's really costing me a lot of nerves when you die to something like this. I wouldn't mind dying due to me playing bad and so on, but desync is just not acceptable - especially not with how frequent and bad it is right now. It's my #1 issue with this game right now and severely affecting my ability to enjoy it. Before someone brings ping into play, that's not it, my ping is at a constant ~30. Please work on this god awful desync |

" I'm not so shure it will get fixed soon. I joined closed Beta right at the start in August 2011. It was the same problem back then as it is now. In 2011 I posted something like "desync makes playing in hc as good as impossible" and "worst problem, should be fixed immediately imho". I was told, that the devs know about the problem, and that it will be fixed "soon". It's 2013 now...just saying. I'm still searching for a recent post of one of the devs about this, but cannot find anything new. Which leads me to a very different, but also very annoying issue: This forum has about the worst search mechanics i ever saw. Digs out tons of irrelevant, superold posts. Please GGG give us a cheap standard forum with a useful search option ;) DMT: Load universe into a gun. Aim at brain. Fire. Last edited by Hartbrot#3222 on Feb 28, 2013, 3:05:28 PM

I used to be one of the guys who would diss people complaining about desync saying they had shit computers and it rarely happened to me, ect
until a few days ago when I was clearing a zone with my HC leap slam marauder(lvl 60). I leaped into a room, saw 10 million archers shooting at me so I leaped out of the room to rethink the situation, next thing I know im teleported back into the room stuck in the corner and get raped by archers and died. Wasn't really mad about it but definitely made me more aware about the possibility it can happen and you need to plan for it. I guess if I was smart I would have ALT F4 but such a cheesy tactic to use I never think about it |

Frankly, i do not see the point of planning around an issue that is absolutely random and unpredictable. It's a plain bug, not a feature and should be fixed as soon as possible.
I'd really love to play hc, check the racing out, etc. But all my friends are completely against playing hc because of the netcode being so crappy. Which is kind of how i think too. So i started a hc char solo, got bored playing alone/had some near death experiences because of desync and switched back to default. And if they dont fix desync, I probably wont see hc or racing ever again. That would be a shame though. Edit: In my first race a few days ago i died of desync about being lvl 10 or so. I really do not see the point in racing atm. DMT:

I agree with that... Is there any message from GGG about desyncs ? It is such a major issue, I just can't understand why it is not #1 on the to-do list... It is really a major bug that seems just... overlooked.
I'm not sure if it's related, but I'm really bored with the "hitbox". Very often, I evade an attack and I lose life anyway ("argh that arrow hit the wall, I'm dead"). It is very obvious with the rock elementals that "roll over enemies". Obviously, this attack is made to be avoided by the player and nevertheless it hits me... |

" If you use the search bar, you can find numerous threads where GGG addresses the issue. They have been more concerned about server stability going into the Open Beta, but are planning optimizations to mitigate desync issues. It is, however, and inherent issue in this type of game. |

" Really???? I've played (A)RPGs religiously over the last 15 years of my life... And I've never experienced this "inherent issue" you speak of in any of them. I love this genre of games, more specifically "Loot Based RPGs"... While many of them will have some type of "online" issue here and there, nothing compares to this game, it takes the "Desync Cake" and then adds 15 layers, frosting, sprinkles and a little man with a hat on top. " I did. To be honest, I only checked the topics on the first page of results. In none of them GGG says anything. I also checked the sticked topics where GGG talks about known issues, and did not find any information about that. I tried to search in the announcements, but after a few topics I got bored (!). So a piece of communication about such a major bug would be nice... (or please tell me where the announcement have been made, the research tool is such a pain) I read a lot about new features, new spells, trading, other things; but about this big technical issue... Nothing. And in other online ARPG I played, I didn't encounter such desync (in D2 you really had to abuse to force a desync for example). |
