About Acuity gloves and vaal pact
" Rarity and exclusivity don't make good metrics for balance though. Designers should always ask "what would happen to the game if every player had access to these (gloves)?" The answer would be, essentially, the removal of RT, any other glove drops from the game, and overturning monster damage across the board to compensate for the extreme leeching effect. I can't say for certainty, but it believe Acuities could be stealth balanced by altering what "leeches life instantly" refers to behind the gloves, rather than on the gloves. Not that I really care anymore--I'll never use these gloves and will likely never play with anybody else who does (I <3 rerolling and only consider mapping a distraction from my altoholicism). Only reason I'd suggest stealth balance is because they are yet another blemish upon what the game was, could be, and is. Devolving Wilds

" If they aren't best in slot for a special effect that is not in the tree, it's not good. Hell, if getting a rare that surpasses a unique in its own game is unlikely, it's not good. Add a Forsaken Masters questline

Those gloves are only relevant in the permanent leagues, aren't they (well, only Standard really to be fair)? And the dev's aren't concerned about the balance of the permanent leagues. Otherwise there wouldn't be any legacy items. I personally see this as the only logic by which I can possibly justify leaving that thing untouched.

" And after your level 7-8 Masters migrate to Standard, then what? Everyone looking forward to grinding them all over again in the next 3-month "race"? |

" I predict the whole master leveling structure will be reworked (to make the content actually relevant to low level characters, and to cure the excessive rage quit that will come next ladder after people get to level 5-6 and get bored) not this next ladder but after that. Devolving Wilds

" Pretty much. I'm gonna get mine to 8, so they transfer as 8. Next league I don't care |

" Yes. And Vaal Pact was nerfed a bit too hard. Vaal Pact should be buffed slightly, Acuity grant the keystone and they would still be an amazing pair of gloves as point savers. The day a keystone became fodder for economy content was the day GGG completely lost the plot. No, that was when they implemented the eternal. OK it was the day they completely lost more of the plot, or lost another bit of the plot that they got back, or another plot, or..I don't know what I'm saying any more... Casually casual.

" This. The nerf to Vaal Pact and inclusion of these gloves makes Shavronne's Wrappings look like the most well balanced item GGG has ever released. The 352nd character to hit Level 100 in Standard
The 82nd character to hit Delve 1000 in Standard |

" Actually they still have to balance standard, else it will just manifest its ugly side in repercussion in other leagues. The legacy items were mainly not to "screw" players who acquired the items diligently and risk hurting the relationship of their customer base. We invest time and money(optional) which makes the online experience possible. Pipeline announcements, fixing/improving technical hurdles, new content, good + responsiveness customer service and balance will be akin to managing relationship of their customer base for me personally. A good balance is probably one that doesn't undermine future gameplay such as removal of snapshots. A bad balance is an example of acuity gloves and vaal pact - "Here's the blood gushing out the wound let's bandaid fix it." What I can't stand is to get a shot at acuity gloves, you need to farm for 4 sac mats then farm another 4 mortal mats, if you wish to accelerate the process, paying to farm(midnights/hopes) and repeat it a hundred times with no chance to get it. I challenge the developers to farm it themselves and ask is that fun themselves? Did you enjoy the tedious process? Thing is, it makes them complacent that there will always be few people willing to grind it and most will just get discouraged. I don't think this is a proper solution. Now compare it to forsaken masters from Chris, "Many MMORPGs have left people with a bad feeling towards daily quests because they feel penalised if they don't log in to do the quest each day. That's not the case here - you can just do an extra one the next day by finding the Master in the wilderness. There's also no limit to the number of missions you can do in a specific day." One is a truly hardcore grind fest, the other is promoting less tediousness on grinding. Of course, 2 different things plus old vs new flavor. Some solutions Buff acuity gloves drop rate - I guess this is what GGG don't want, to make the glove slot mandatory. Align gloves to current vaal pact - Owners wouldn't be pleased. Alignment of passive and glove to meet halfway - Vaalpact now has 70%-80% effectiveness but more available. Some other indirect balances on other areas that fix vaal pact. Think i wrote too long.. Can't think of more solutions at the moment.. Will leave it at this for now. Last edited by Shogen#5809 on Oct 10, 2014, 9:55:04 PM

" Except they also changed how mana and life leeching without vaal pact acted as well around the same time (the small patch just before?), making it so that hits didn't stack anymore and just refreshed the current single stack of either. If they change vaal pact back toward it's original state then they need to bring back leech mechanics toward it's original state as well. Last edited by Jiero#2499 on Oct 10, 2014, 11:35:09 PM
