[1.2] Molten Ash Marauder crit build (decent survivability, excelent clear speed)

Your build is spending a lot of points in stuff I would rather save.

I'd go for:
Click me
...with further points spent in life wheel and dual wield block.

*I removed several resist nodes (use other boots and solve this with gear, don't wear so many uniques!)
*I only took mace clusters that have life or crit in it
*I added the remaining crit nodes (Disemboweling)
*I added more life
*I changed the overall pathing a lot to save skillpoints
*I removed some minor nodes from clusters (like the mace damage/armor nodes)

Yes, you are point-starved in a crit build. That's why you better don't put skillpoints in minor stuff like 18% fire resist, 16% armor or 10% damage. ;)

I would recommend a normal 6L over Bringer of Rain, especially for your build, "melee physical damage" may not be the optimal choice (it's helping only tooltip DpS).

Our builds are different only in few spots:
*You go for some armor/resists
*You have included the ranger starting zone
*I have the 3 life nodes near Templar (Athleticism)
*I have the 3 sword clusters (one with life, one with crit, one with block)

This leads to pretty equal stats, I have more life, you have more resists.
Same block, about the same damage (if I was wearing Abyssus and using Hatred, I'd also do an estimated 80k DpS).

I know you can deal with most situations just fine, still feels a bit squishy compared to how I like to play my melees... ;)

Matter of preference than. BoR (its included melee phys dmg) will help with initial hit dmg (melee part of Molten Strike) resulting in bigger overkill damage thus improving dmg of poliferated burning effect a lot. As I said it needs testing before any honest conclusion.

@tshern yeah, the tree suggested by Peterlerock looks much better. Bellow my proposition.

Overall almost the same thing. But I would go even deeper to the bottom part of the tree respecing from the top. Reason is higher block chance. After reaching Blade Barrier I would then focus on getting more life nodes.

I've tested BoR in my setup. More survivalibity is there but dmg is not there. Dont get me wrong, it works, it kills, has 63% block but... I prefer when stuff dies FAST :) And for that I need my Abyssus on the head.

Tooltip DPS with BoR is 54k compared to 61k with Abyssus for initial hit but overall AOE dmg suffers. Balls of magma do far less dmg also without quality attack speed and with only lvl 12 attack speed, Effective attacks per secound feels bad. That said, I think that legacy BoR might actually work.

I will test other armour options in near future and uparte the guide if necessary.

Must be because you're only using a 5L chest with abyssus.

At such a low cost in DpS, I'd definetly take the 15% block and 40% less physical damage taken.

Not an option for me :) As I said, It's tooltip DPS, melee part of Molten Strike DPS, initial hit DPS. Yes, burning DMG from initial hit overkill is almost the same. But balls of molten magma is where the rest of the damage happens. They do far less dmg, because we lose 200% crit multiplier (500% crit multi with BoR, 700% crit multi with Abyssu). And we have them less frequently spawning because of attack speed. Remember - those balls are also trigger for burning overkill dmg. I've tested it. With BoR clear speed is not the same. Not even close.

I've added The Anvil unique amulet to the mix. Now sitting at 58 block chance with 35 life gain when block. Usefull stuff for titty bitches or flicker spiders and any other crowd fighting situation. Damage went down because I had 63 crit multi and some flat phys dmg on my amulet. But 57,3k compared to 61k is not a big deal. And I'm having still excelent crit multi of 600% for those nice whole screen burns when it crits.

I also tested a 6l. Over 73k DPS with 6l. Another thing is Belly of the Beast. 4,8k life with it. So I do feel now that 6l Belly of the Beast would be a really nice option for the build. It will ensure over 75k DPS and 5k life with a little better gear than mine. 5k life with 58 block and healing when block, I think that Abyssus increased phys dmg taken wont be an issue at all. For those who think otherwise there's Lightning Coil + Purity of Lightning as a third aura. I've updated the guide.
