How do I tell when I block?

This is actually a good point. In this game, a block negates 100% of the damage. I'm not used to that. How does it affect spells though? I know there are some items that turn your block into spell block (and it can be seen in the Defense tab). But aside from that, does blocking do anything against spells?

If you have spell block chance it will prevent all damage of the spell hit, if you don't you might as well be wearing a pink plastic bag wrapped around your arm.
