chaos =/= elemental
" Okay, i see where was i wrong for the first time =) Wrote things backwards (probably thought of a cupcakes) But just to clarify (if you have time): 25% fire converted to chaos damage. How can that (already converted to chaos) damage can still be elemental? When it's already chaos-type? For example, skill does 1000 fire damage which then (automatically) becomes 750 fire+250chaos If you have that "20% increased elemental damage with spells" from passive tree, wouldn't it apply before conversion? Like a) 1000fire->1200fire->900fire+300chaos, and not b) 1000fire->750fire+250chaos->900fire+250chaos If the a) is correct, then i still can't see how (and when) chaos damage is being considered as "elemental". Those 300chaos is just the result of passive node affection on initial (fire) damage which is elemental, and has nothing to do with chaos "being temporary elemental_damage for a moment" Remember, suffering is convenient. That is why many people prefer it. Happiness requires effort. Last edited by HarukaTeno#6546 on Jul 24, 2014, 9:12:09 PM

It's pretty simple: all Damage multipliers are calculated after Conversion.
Every source of Damage is calculated separately. 100 Base Fire Damage 50 Base Chaos Damage 25% Converted to Chaos 100% Inc. Spell Damage 50% Inc. Elemental Damage 50% Inc. Chaos Damage 100 * 0.25 = 25 Base Chaos Damage (from Fire) 100 - 25 = 75 Base Fire Damage Fire Damage: 75 Base Fire. Benefits from Spell/Fire/Elemental. Base * Inc Spell+Elem 75 * (1 + (100/100) + (50/100)) = 187.5, rounds to 187 Fire Damage Chaos Damage: 50 Base Chaos. Benefits from Spell/Chaos. Base * Inc Spell+Chaos 50 * (1 + (100/100) + (50/100)) = 125 Chaos Damage 25 Base Chaos. Converted from Fire, thus also benefits from modifiers to Fire Damage Base * Inc Spell+Elem+Chaos 25 * (1 + (100/100) + (50/100) + (50/100)) = 75 Chaos Damage Final Damage: 187 Fire Damage 125 + 75 = 200 Chaos Damage Some additional information regarding Resistances: Inc/Red/More/Less Damage multipliers apply to Base Damage, and spit out the Damage Dealt value on the Attacker side (as demonstrated above). The Defender receives this 'packet' of Damage Dealt, and applies mitigation (Resistances, Armour) to this value to determine Damage Taken. The Damage Taken value is then modified by its respective modifiers, such as Abyssus, Shock or Arctic Armour. This is the reason for the Fire-to-Chaos Damage being unaffected by Fire Resistance; it is part of a separate calculation where the distinction between Converted Damage and flat Base Damage is no longer made. The Defender only sees "200 Chaos Damage", as opposed to "75 Chaos Damage (from Fire), and 125 Chaos Damage". Last edited by Vipermagi#0984 on Jul 25, 2014, 12:41:31 AM
