Death in HC is just telling you that it's time to have fun with another character. I haven't played in non-hc games like this for years... probably Sacred 2. That's because I find it more fun to develop a character than I do to grind at some mythical "end game".

I typically die in HC when I'm getting bored of my character and get sloppy. Time to die. Time to have fun with another play through.

Game isn't shield it's escapism.

It's like alcohol, drugs. You need Dopamine to feel safe and comfortable.
Children who have alcohol addicted parents are usually playing games - the same with other disfunctions in family (living with only 1 parent) and so.

Game should be fun, but you shouldn't play games to escape or to not think about school, work and so. That is addiction for sure. It's very hard to explain for a gamer, that he is addicted.
