" Not a question of easy or not. Its a question of RNG or not. Difficulty is fine, they just all rely on RNG, or at least most of em do. |

Don't really care about OCD points, always seem incidental to just playing the game and the ones that require something specific i really can't be arsed doing...doesn't matter which game

" Thanks for getting my point. Sure there were some in that other game that had some RNG to them but not like how it is in POE. And i dont want easy ones, i want fun ones i can choose to do, not gamble to do. We got a 6L achievement. For what? How many jewelers and fusings am i supposed to trade for or by goodness, find, to get that achievement? A hard achievement would be to not get hit by Brutus hook. That would be fun but hard. |

Why are you comparing Challenges with Achievements? Their very design is attending a different audience. PoE has Achievements, they are as mixed up in difficulty as D3 ones are.
Although I'd love more of them, I agree. Last edited by Nightmare90#4217 on Jul 17, 2014, 5:45:38 PM

" I think both challenges and achieves are too RNG based. However, there are some really good ones. I liked the leveling to 90 in both leagues, anyone with skill in the game can do that with no reliance on RNG. As for achieves, stuff like Overcharged (15 charges at once) and leveling a vaal gem to 20 are also quite nice. Wish we could have more challenges/achieves like those. Not comparing them, saying that it applies to both. |

Even just looking at the challenges, most of them aren't really RNG based at all or at least not unreasonably so. From the example you gave:
Not RNG-based at all: Full Clear in any difficulty Reach level 60 in Onslaught Minimal RNG*: Slay Rogue Exiles Use Currency Items Items from Vendor Recipes Some RNG Use each map * = Yes, you needed to find all the exiles which is somewhat random, but if you played normally at a high enough level, you were almost certain to find all of them eventually within the 4 months you had. Only 1 or two were even that rare. Using currency items and vendor recipes required you to have the needed items, but again you were very likely to get all but one or two of them very easily and a little trading would take care of the rest. Maps required a lot more luck to sustain a high level pool, but again if you played enough, it wouldn't be too hard to get them all either on your own or by trading for the few you were missing. You didn't even need to CLEAR the maps, just use them, so if you really wanted, you could have done City of Sarn runs for 3 months and bought them all. The only one that was really RNG based was owning all uniques. This also would have required a huge amount of trading and you could make a good case for this one being badly designed. On the other hand, it was probably intentionally designed this way just to limit how many people were able to complete all of them and win the t-shirt. And even here, you COULD argue that RNG wasn't the main factor since if you played enough, you're certain to find SOMETHING worth trading for all the needed items. If I remember correctly, you would have needed to average 1-2 exalteds worth of drops per day to buy all of them which would take a lot of time spent playing and/or trading, but is certainly doable without relying on getting overly lucky with one big drop. |
