you can get 100%+ increased minion life and 100+ % minion damage , some block (which those nodes are shit) some speed (which are ok) some life regen and some resists , but nothing on mana.
so in terms of min maxing , dont even try for mana.
plus the only chest armor a guardian should have is zahndethus for that farting aoe of healing that ups regen in the area by 4% .
Thanks for the advice, but I'm not trying to build a powerful Guardian, just a tanky one. Do you know what his default mana pool is?

as for gear , i dont understand why you would use some of those items on a guardian.
curse on hit gloves on a summoner openly conflicts with the curses the summoner should have (all summoners should have 2 curses minimum, it is just practical).
and atzis mirror is the same way , curse reflect would conflict with your own curses , plus not using the crest of perandus seems odd , since it adds that 3% life leech.
no leer cast ? sad panda.
I doubt you were writing to me with that tidbit, but the guy that recommended those items is probably no longer monitoring this thread. My AG uses Leer Cast, because I play an aura support character.

unless you 5 link it , the guardian wont ever do much damage so wasting really expensive uniques on it for damage and leech is not recommended , but the base hp of guardians can get pretty damn insane , so regen is a better option.
and you cant really claim to want to reduce his damage taken when you use the staff that makes him take more damage. The best and only thing you can do now is to make sure he has the most massive base hp pool imaginable.
that means throwing him in a +2 helm or shield with a level 3 empower gem and a minion life gem.
He is empowered and in a +1 wand with a Minion Life gem. Thanks again for the advice, but you still haven't quantified or even discussed his mana pool.
"
if you are not using necro aegis i would suggest getting the summoner unique shield, and 3 link it with empower and minion life. that should put his hp up to pretty stupid levels , and if he does look like he will die just switch weapon sets , so that he respawns at your feet.
I appreciate the advice, but I am not a summoner, and will be using Prism Guardian.
Still waiting on an answer.

been playing him up to lvl 78 maps , i remove him in fights he doesn't work out , and he is lvl 17.
Regardless what his mana is or not , zahndetus is the only chest you want , even if you only have 18% block via the staff , the 4% regen is huge .
he also gets a lot of chaos res via the chest , which makes it alot easier to gear him.

For what it's worth, I've taken him, at level 25, on Atziri runs with a nice rare chest (below) and he hasn't died in months.
I don't need to take him out at boss fights, and to be honest I'm not looking for some alternate answer to my problem. I'm not saying a Cloak of Defiance is going to be more effective, nor do I need help deciding on a proper chest piece.
I just want to know what his mana pool is.

Only ggg can answer that. In the past, it was explained that monsters have a specific amount of mana with stupidly high regen. The combination let monsters cast only every once in awhile because thier skills use all mana pool.

@OP: I don't think anyone knows their mana pool or their mana regeneration rate.
"

That isn't too relevant though. The important point here is to know what is the mana pool and what is the regeneration rate. I doubt monsters have the same regeneration rate as players.
Look at Flame Sentinels for instance, I don't think they ever stop or slow down on spamming Augmented Fireballs, but we don't know how much it costs or how much their mana regeneration rate is. We just know they have enough mana to continuously cast it.

So, after 3 years, noone still knows what is AG's mana pool?
Did someone try activation MoM on it, and see if he can take noticeable more damage (with disabling healing)?
