Spell Echo + Spell Totem = Nothing?

So I came into this patch thinking Spell Echo + Spell Totem + Spell-of-my-choice + Ancestral Bond would equal two totems out very quickly and casting very quickly. Sadly, nothing happens, just a regular totem with no extra cast speed. I can understand the logic as the totem makes the spell no longer a spell and Spell Echo is "support" and "spell".

But, I can link Spell Totem + Spell-of-my-choice + Faster Casting which is "support" and "spell" and it'll work just fine.

I can link it to Cast When Stunned which is "support" and "spell" and it'll work just fine.

Is this a bug or is this intended?

Alright well I guess I'm not understanding why this would be the case. Reports seem to indicate that Vaal skills will repeat a second time, and that Flameblast will reach 10 stacks faster. Was there some kind of totem build with Spell Echo that was absurd in the test environment?

It's a support that was designed to help out hard-casters. That's all there really is to it.

That's a shame.

I think it'd have been a much more elegant solution to quickly cast two totems in succession that did have the 10% less damage but cast normally otherwise.

I doubt many totem users would use it like that, but there'd be a few cases like heavy AoE environments where totems die quickly this could have provided some new options without invalidating existing options.

They probably should implement another support gem for that - "multiple totems"

I could settle for a support gem that gave us an extra totem. As it is right now, we got the bottom of the barrel. Melee has multistrike, Self casters have echo, and totem users have Nada.
Search for "Silvers Kiosk" on the forums for some quality gear and fair trades.

Yeah I think it would be useful for totemers to have a support that helped with mana costs in the way that echo and multistrike do.

I agree.

They only have no reason to fear reflect of any kind and the freedom to play safer. :P

At the low low cost of giving up any and all ways of dealing damage by themselves ^^
