Voltaxic Rift
Hey fellow rangers,
So, my main is a ranger and I'm generally only one to play one character. That being said, I will probably change up my build every once in a while to keep things fresh on my way to level 100. So, currently I am crit split arrow (thanks to Pre and his thread!) and absolutely love it. I do however want to have an alternate set for changing over to LA at times. Now, from what I hear VR is one of the better end game LA weapons, but why? LA is based on Phys damage which is pretty low on that weapon. Is it because Chaos is less often resisted and cannot be reflected? Does the damage bypass energy shield as if it were a chaos cloud? I'm just not sure as to what this weapon has over say an average ~280-300 pDPS harbinger. Thanks to any and all answers! ~Zip I can give you love, rocking horses, and dancing!

The only advantage is reflect immunity, and you need a 6-link in order to take advantage of it because of mana issues.

So realistically it would just be better to go with a good 6l rare (if I'm a careful player) considering the price?

Even a 5L will do if you can run your skills on mana.

When two witches watch two watches, which witch watches which watch? If the witches watching watches watch the same watch while you watch which witch watches which watch, they switch watches; then, the watch switching witches watch which watch you watch. Watching witches watch watches is not for the faint of heart... |

Clears faster and much less squishy than my 5-link Voltaxic. I'm sure a 6-link Voltaxic would be superior with WED, Blood Magic and LGoH but for the cost you'd get more out of a 5-link physical bow, dual leech on gear and spend the drug money on other stuff. I could see it being a lot of fun for LA/SA/Barrage + GMP + Chain + CoC + Arc sort of build, if you've got enough crit coming from elsewhere. If I had a 5L one lying around, I'd definitely give this a shot (and might well prefer it to my Barrage/EK switch for ele reflectors).

@EJ: Tried it a long time ago. The lack of elemental or physical damage for leech means a 6-link is pretty much required for resource management. Leech gem on a 5-link can address the mana part of it but leaves you with not enough life regen for Apex/Atziri. :\

I've spent so long running with Thief's Torment that I don't really understand how the world works without it anymore.
That said, I think it's really only LA that's cost-prohibitive, even with all those supports, no? ------ "And 'Do what thou willst' shall be the whole of the law." -- Aleister Crowley "First, love; then, do what thou willst." -- St. Augustine "Whatever is done out of love always takes place beyond good and evil." -- Friedrich Nietzsche Last edited by SinisterDexter#3081 on Jun 27, 2014, 7:04:16 PM

True. Barrage or Thief's would solve a lot of those issues but then you wouldn't need the Voltaxic to deal with reflect.

Definitely some solid info in this thread. Basically, for me, it won't be worth the asking price for it, I suppose. 3 reflect deaths today because I got lazy and wasn't paying attention, though >.> lol.
