Arc+Elemental Proliferation+Elemental Equilibrium?
|
I'm a summoner with 0 spell damage / lightning damage / shock passives or gear stats so some questions: * Do Arc + Elemental Proliferation + Elemental Equilibrium work well together in the sense that I can cause the EE resistance effects to propagate to groups of monsters by hitting a few of them with Arc + Elemental Proliferation? Even if my Arc is actually doing 0 damage to them? * Would adding Lightning Penetration with my Arc + Elemental Proliferation do anything meaningful or just be a tiny damage boost that I don't really need to worry about? * Would using Arc + Elemental Proliferation + Elemental Equilibrium make using an Elemental Weakness curse be pretty much a waste of effort? I should switch to a different curse? I'm already using Flammability which I plan to keep so I think Temporal Chains would be the one to replace Elemental Weakness with |

" 1. No. Elemental Proliferation only spreads status effects. EE is an "on hit" effect that is not spread by EP. You must actually hit the target to cause EE to apply to them. 2. If you deal lightning damage, Lightning Penetration should be the absolute first thing you put with it. Always. No exceptions. 3. First, why would you use Flammability with a lightning spell? You should be using Conductivity. Temporal Chains should be first, in my opinion, since it causes all effects to last twice as long on enemies. Once you shock them, it stays for a long while. |

Shock Duration is based on shock damage, and a shock that doesn't meet a minimum of .3 seconds won't exist at all. Read about here. Therefore, the lightning damage you do will always be important to your ability to shock, as is shock duration bonuses. On a 4 link, you might do something like arc/elemental proliferation/lightning penetration/added lightning damage (with quality). Could also use Empower, Iron Will, whatever. But for shocking a boss without help from passives/gear, well, I haven't tried it but Elemental Proliferation and his minions is probably your best way to go.

yeah, lemme clarify/restate things
I'm a summoner - the damage done is almost entirely by my minions not by me. A lot of summoners like to use Arc as a way of 'aiming' their minions at what to go after and they will use EE because they will do a little zap the equivalent of rubbing your feet on the carpet and touching somebody - which will then via EE lower their resistances for their Fire (and sometimes added Cold damage) minions to go to town on. In general we're not taking or stacking any spell damage / lightning damage / shock nodes so we're probably not going to be able to trigger shock at all even with high level / high Q gems and supports (I could be wrong but I'm sensing that's the case) |

1) As been answered before: EE can't spread with the ElementalProliferation (it's not a "status")
2) You can't trigger EE without dealing at least 1 damage ( ") Remember, suffering is convenient.
That is why many people prefer it. Happiness requires effort. |

" EE will proc even if you deal zero damage. It's not checking how much damage, it's just checking the types of damage you would deal. The amount of damage is unimportant. |
|
" I dont think this is correct. You need to deal some damage. How can you recognize type of damage if you deal 0 damage? EE does not work with AB for this reason (you need to use traps/mines/totems to trigger it) IGN: Eric_Lindros

Yup. EE checks Damage Taken, not Damage Dealt. No Damage Taken -> no Damage type.
Stuff. Edit: better. Last edited by Vipermagi#0984 on Jun 17, 2014, 12:00:07 PM

" Equilibrium always worked like that. It's a pretty common misconception stemming from bad description ingame, it clearly states it works on hit, doesn't say you have to deal damage. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
