I am in love with the fibonacci sequence.

See, I used to like numerology like you, OP. Then I realized just how dumb and simple it got, and how you could probably pull any number out of a collection if you tried hard enough. But you're probably already mad because my mind is small and that I don't recognize the cubic sun or something, and that's fine, believe what you want.

I actually have a strong distaste the fibonacci sequence. Sure it's neat. It's nice. Makes good fodder for math problems.
But then there's people that talk about it's mystic properties or whatever (There are more interesting sequences and numbers, try messing with the primes or something guys, geez)

And then, much worse, there are people who give the Fibonacci sequence all the credit for the Golden Ratio! As if it were this magical progression without which we could never know of such a nice constant.

Golden ratio is my dude, but forget that fibonacci approximation bullshit. Ratio of a regular pentagon's side to one of it's diagonals = Φ, 1.6180339887... (or 0.61803... depending on whether you're saying the side=1 or the diagonal=1)

See the first diagram here

Oh what's this? There's another set of neat ratios associated with the Heptagon?

Damn right. And there's one of those for each successive odd-numbered polygon kiddos.
Small minds will not be able to understand the magnificence of this.

Why am I wearing a heavy belt if I haven't got any pants?

Tell that to Tesla.

Tell that to Fibonacci.

Tell that to Einstein.

The golden ratio is basic math; the fibonacci sequence is the key to the Universe.

You don't get to declare what an insult is -- that's up to the person receiving it. You might not have meant it as such, but guess what? That's your failure to grasp the meaning of the term in a larger, more universal context.

Saying someone has a small mind *is* an insult, just as saying someone has a great mind *is* a compliment.

You have a very small mind for not realising this.

Wait, does adding 'very' make it an insult to you? Sorry!

You have to consider that on their side, they chose to have a small mind. If they are offended by their own choice, then it's clearly a terrible choice.

Try to stop making this about me.

"Great minds think about ideas. Average minds think about events. Small minds think about people."

You are the one with a small mind here, Charan. I speak on a much grander scale than insults and superfluous adjectives designed to condescend people. If you have a small mind, then you have a small mind; if you have a great mind, then you have a great mind. It's all based on your choices, so if your choices are not well, your life in comparison will reflect that.

Not sure what significant connection Einstein and Tesla have to the fibonacci sequence/golden ratio.
Fibonacci's sequence comes from a math problem, with breeding rabbits or some such. It is basic math. It is not the key to the universe.

The golden ratio (which dividing successive pairs of fibonacci numbers will trend toward, ie. F51/F52, F3001/F3000)
is present in a simple geometric form, the pentagon. You don't need Fibonacci numbers to get there, you need a straightedge and a compass.

You might be pleased to note that the ancient greeks (and probably some other cultures as well) knew of this, which was probably a contributing factor in the rise of the pentagram as an occult symbol over time.

Actually, you made the choice for them when you said that anyone who doesn't grasp a certain thing has a small mind.

This is ALL about you, Deceptionist, and always has been. And you wouldn't want it any other way.

You clearly have no knowledge of the fibonacci sequence, where as I have little knowledge of the golden ratio.

The fibonacci sequence is more than a math equation; it's the first math equation that made everything as it is. If you look at the numbers when they are properly aligned, (look for a picture that creates three triangles out of the three numerical forms) then observe the brilliance of its mathematical perfection.

It's not because they could not grasp it; it's how they dealt with what they could not grasp.

What separates a great mind from an ungrateful mind is how they deal with mental pressure. A genius is a master of chaos, while the ignorant need order.

The level of desperate projection is killing me.

I have to leave now, before I start acting in a way unbecoming of a cornerstone of the community, or so I'm supposedly held to be. Thankfully for you, no such standards are applied to your...whatever the heck is going on here.

You need to learn that it's not a case of people failing to understand you; it's a case of you giving them absolutely no incentive to try.

There's a quote by Aristotle, "No great mind has ever existed without a touch of madness."

The more you travel down the spiral of sanity and insanity, you realize further that genius may not be about your intellect, or your mental hard work. Here's another quote, "Passion is the genesis of genius." There are all sorts of quotes that point towards geniuses becoming geniuses because they face themselves and their own errors through other's mistakes. Here's another quote, "An intellect learns from their mistakes; a genius learns from other people's mistakes." Being a genius is about becoming your ideas and your entire passion, instead of separating yourself from that energy.

You should do more research and less ridiculing. The reason why you have yet discovered your own inner genius, is because you are controlled by hate, ignorance and belittlement; just examine how well you control yourself, in spite of you knowing nothing of what you speak of.
