It wasn't aimed at you (or anyone), it was an example.

To me, it isn't fun, and it being fun to some people doesn't make it somehow acceptable. Like I mentioned above, I could make antisemitic "jokes" that are related to the game, apply stereotypes that the 88 boys and right-wingers will find hilarious, but that would be plainly unacceptable to anyone who doesn't share these views. And I could apologize before and suggest not to take it seriously. Would that make it all right? If not, why is it OK to drag Christian values through the dirt of entertainment?

I mean, the OP was putting light on something he found humorous with PoE and it has been turned into a suit and tie event?

I mean as someone who doesn't have a religion, I don't take offense to him putting one on me. I get faith put on me all the time with words like "atheism", I just don't let it bother me.

I think it's just a dangerous precedent.

Like I said: I can slap any disclaimer on any thread I make and just balls out dog people left and right... "oh, lighten up, it's just a joke."

Really? Do we really want to go there? Because I'd be more than happy to follow these new rules. I have a list of people who really need a strip torn off them.

Anything humorous can be twisted into something that offends someone. He didn't post anything hateful, didn't spit on any faith directly, and how is it ok to call someone elses religion offensive?

New beliefs are formed all the time, and at least he put a disclaimer saying "don't be offended", he didn't direct it at any individual or even a group of people, just anyone in general that takes faith through all walks of life. He didn't point out anything wrong with what you believe in, just a warning that he was going to tell us what he believed in, which happened to be PoE related. If you believe in something and wish to share it in the same manner, feel free to do so in Off-Topic. It probably won't recieve near the amount of criticism this harmless post did.

The youtube link from before is what you guys are accusing him of. He wasn't being sarcastic and trying to jab religion using a disclaimer as an excuse.

I have been known to silently prey to the powers of chris during dark times on the loot hunt. There are worse manifestations of the inevitable grind madness that sets in it must be said, and Im no stranger to them either :D

My experience of gaming forum threads even remotely touching religion or faith:


a, those get locked

b, actual religious people get the joke (or at least they never post if it offends them)

c, those threads get a -lot- of flaming posts from people claiming that it -will- offend others
