14k+ Dps Fire Witch, 1 Hit Merciless Brutus With Crit Youtube Vid Included
This is fun, but i'm playing a bit more actively than just standing amidst mobs waiting for them to blow themselves up. :) I tend to get surrounded by mobs even without deliberately letting them do that so the Shell procs all the time anyway. Fireball with increased AoE for most targets and Firestorm for eradicating pesky mages through doorways before they can eradicate me. Too bad the Shell does nothing against magic, since caster mobs give me the hardest time.
Funny, I had never paid much attention to Molten Shell before. Last edited by Jason_Gray#4504 on Feb 4, 2013, 3:00:45 AM

I am using your build right now as a level 42 Witch. The biggest problem I have it's my mana pool. I only have clarity and I can't handle it, I have to use a Onyx amulet and some intelligence on my gear because if I don't, I can't even cast Molten Shell.
I have one point at 8% maximum mana at the start of the witch tree. I guess I will refund it when I can handle my mana properly. Any tips? Last edited by tonyges#5746 on Feb 4, 2013, 5:07:59 AM

" I am 61 now with the exact same Built as the TE and it works great, but now in Act 2 Merc i kinda feel the how hard the Monsters Hitting me and i seek for groups where i only spam Firestorm with support Iron Will and Concentrated Effect, that rocks! Molton Shell has Unbuffed 5.5K dps going for the Buffbonus and HP points now as shown in the Spoiler Get a Manareduce Gem, helps alot!!! like this greetings nebu Last edited by Nebucadneza#0756 on Feb 4, 2013, 5:56:49 AM

Is this an awesome fire build? I'm very new to fire skills..
Yesterday I found this and I must do some fire.. It is nice for fire spells isn't it? I wonder how much sockets it can roll and how much links? The item level is 51 and if is true that: 1 socket : 1 2 sockets: 1 3 sockets: 15 4 sockets: 28 5 sockets: 35 6 sockets: 50 it can have 6 sockets rigt? I played this build some more, currently in the 40s and I have to agree with what most people already said. It's fun and challenging to play but it has a few issues that can be seriously annoying while leveling.
I feel like I wasn't able to acquire the gear needed for this build quickly enough. You really need high armor and high resists with good HP at all times in the game, since you're basically running into whole packs of mobs 24/7. If you don't have good resistances you just get destroyed by casters, whereas if you lack hp/armor you get destroyed by physical damage. However on top of that you also seem to need a fair bit of mana regen to make clarity effective enough to actually sustain your mana requirements. You kinda need to use Firestorm to kill casters in the back while also spamming Enduring Call and of course, Molten Shell. I'm not even going to mention Tempest Shield. Achieving this level of mana regen without gimping your tankyness is quite hard while leveling. Obviously I'm talking about level 40 and lower here, since that is the only experience I had with this build so far. So I feel like unless you have access to items with like 40-50% mana regen that also give you the needed amount of armor/resists/hp you're going to have a pretty hard time. I had to turn off determination aura (which obviously sucks) and HEAVILY lose out on support gems (e.g. no support gems except for reduced mana, which kinda sucks as well). Also I had serious trouble with the REALLY hard hitting mobs, like Kole (The Brute right before Piety). I feel like it would be impossible to facetank that and explode molten shell on him, unless you are seriously overgeared for that level. Even when using armor flask, 3 endurance stacks, molten shell and determination he'd still nearly 2-shot me. So I had to switch to Bow and range him down. This is from a beginner's perspective by the way. I've only started playing this game with open beta. I'm currently trying to learn and understand as much about the game as I can and have fun while doing that. I probably made quite a few mistakes and maybe someone more knowledgeable can comment on this. So far this build was a lot of fun but also frustrating sometimes. I would not recommend this build to anyone without access to the proper gear and the knowledge required to play it. This is especially true for hardcore, unless you know exactly what you`re doing at all times, you're probably going to die. Playing this build has taught me a lot and I'm still planning on continuing the build. I hope that Pohx can continue to improve/fix it and maybe update the guide with some more info, especially for leveling. Like he said in the video it seems to scale very well, but the start is probably a bit brutal at the moment for most people. Last edited by Tattioff#5454 on Feb 4, 2013, 11:16:41 AM

" The general tip for mobs at low level is to run around them and not just stand still till you get gear to do so. For kole, if you run around him using quick silver only his auto's will hit you and even then just barely hit you. As for mana this question is brought up on every one of my guides lol You really don't need mana regen gear until late game ( 55+ ) The only thing you need to run is a saturated mana flask. You could even take off clarity snd just use a saturated and you should be fine. When leveling up as a " Melee " You need to know what you can fight easily and what's going to burst you down. By the time you work yourself to the templar tree you get a free 30% resists from the shield alone, then another 10% from another passive ( Not including resists on youur gear ) Resistance with this build probably has to be one of the easiest things to obtain once you get a grasp of the game. I'll be putting out a video sometime this week on mana management overall, what pots to roll etc so I hope it'll help you guys in the future. Also remember you get +80% mana regen when you work your way to the templar tree and if needed there is a 20% by witch! I hope this helps! Feel free to stop by my stream if you have in depth questions that I can't answer here! | |
I've started leveling this build and so far am just using (lvl 28) The Flaming Spear as it gives fireball 230dps which at that level one shots nearly everything - so I usually run into a room with molten/enduring on and kill things with a combo of shell and fireball which is working good. Will switch to shield after getting the +15% resist passives which should only be 5-10 levels. Thinking of keeping fireball with increased AoE for my ranged spell.
I'd like to know if you've had any experience with running maps? Either solo or in group and feel like you're contributing. Also, is there any unique you recommend picking up for this build? I notice I have the 50% of block applied to spells ammy in my stash -- am I right in thinking that this would add 25% spell block (if you had 50% shield block)? Seems good. I'd like to see a video of this build as you'd play it while farming docks/wherever (without slowing down for explanations even though that vid was awesome) to see the speed etc it preforms at. If you had a 4L for molten, does Molten + Iron Grip + Increased AoE + Concentrated Effort (sp) all work together? |

^ maybe you meant Iron Will.
I still have mana problems with Reduced Mana. I end with 19 mana if I use clarity and determination. should I stop leveling up clarity? and I use a 4L for molten Concentrated effect, Iron will and Fire penetration. I guess I'm not going to use Fire penetration for now, but still I have really low mana. Reduced mana scales that good or should I get some mana points until I can get the templar ones? |

Thanks for the response Pohx. I tried using a saturated mana flask and it did help. Not using clarity at the moment and the flask instead. Using it 24/7 can get a bit tiresome but then again it's probably a good idea for me to learn flask management anyway.
I also tried the running around bosses/hard hitting single mobs. The process is pretty much like this. 1) I cast molten shell on myself, 2) Use Enduring Cry to acquire max stacks, 3) run around the boss/mob. This does reduce damage by a lot but the problem with this is that quite often my molten shield simply runs out before it can explode, as I'm not getting hit by anything except for a few auto attacks the reduced/blocked damage doesn't seem to be high enough for the shield to explode. Any idea how I could fix this or do I simply need more block chance/damage reduction? Edit: Taking a granite flask helps increasing the reduction enough for shield to pop in 1-2 hits most of the time for single mobs. I've got ~40% block chance at the moment and ~2k armor with molten shield. Not using Determination at the moment because it reserves too much of my mana. I am watching your stream by the way and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about PoE. The Youtube content is also very nice. Keep the good stuff coming.
