Lightning Strike Projectile Damage Calculation

I've been using Lightning Strike lately with multiple projectiles while running Wrath and Anger. I wanted to make a calculator for myself to see what I need to upgrade first but I came across some things I wasn't sure on:

Presuming your DPS is 100 then the projectile damage is 70. And presuming you have Greater Multiple Projectiles unleveled (50 damage reduction)it's then going to be 35. I think this is accurate. Now here comes the part I'm unsure about. If an aura gives you damage, like Wrath or Anger, does it affect the projectile and original hit the same, or is it a 70% penalty from the Lightning Strike projectile as well? Normally I'd say 70%, but because it's an aura I'd think it applies directly to the projectile just like the main ability, causing a 100% benefit.

What do you guys think?
Percent-modifiers effect all flat damage.

Also, unless you have Iron Grip linked, your Projectile damage will always be slightly less than 70%; Strength's damage bonus only effects Melee Physical damage. The Projectiles do not benefit normally. Just something to keep in mind :)
Thanks! I do have the Iron Grip passive, forgot to mention that. Damn, well 70% of Auras is better than no Auras. I think it's still the best AOE melee ability since it also allows you to kite. :)
I was under the impression that strength affects the LS main attack damage, and thus the projectiles which are based on that damage (even if you swing at the air).

I thought the reason to get Iron Grip was to double dip the projectile damage?

The main reason this makes sense to me is this: if strength does not affect the projectiles normally through it's bonus to melee damage, do +physical damage passives also not affect it whatsoever?

If they do, how can one affect it, but not the other? (Well I know the math will allow for it but I'm saying logically that makes no sense unless it was specifically programmed that way intentionally)
I believe +Physical Damage does affect it because that's what it takes 70% of and converts it. Melee Physical Damage would not affect the projectile if I'm not mistaken on the other hand. Any projectile abilities will affect it.
From what I understand, the projectiles simply take 70% of the main hit from LS and creates a projectile. I am assuming this is true simply based off visual estimations of enemy health bars. If it was not 70% of LS dmg I would think the projectile would be doing muuuch less than it looks like it is doing. Iron grip passive then takes your phys dmg fom str and adds that to the calculation. Say, for my tired mind's sake, you had 500 str with iron grip. That would be 50% increased phyiscal dmg on the projectile component. Assuming the projectile does any physical dmg at all. I'm not sure if it just deals the elemental portion or not....
The answer is 42.

This is not the case. The damage of the projectiles is calculated separately from the melee swing. The projectiles are not Melee damage.

But the Auras would then still be at 70% effectiveness. Right?

i know they are not melee dmg, but if the damage isnt taken from the statistics of LS, where does it come from?

this is why im assuming the projectiles take 70% of the "dmg range" of the melee swing and convert it into a projectile attack.

i dont want to, but someone can read trhough http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/18361/page/22 this post to maybe find the answer.

Yeah I think I'll read through that. Hopefully learn some interesting things. :)
