" LOL Minecraft may not be on Steam but steam has given free publicity to Minecraft.. It got so much traffic from the TF2 blog post it shut down the Minecraft site. http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=4130 Notch and Steam are talking to get his game on Steam, the hang up is the "micro-trans", but from my understanding they are working on getting the game on it. I'd love it if PoE went on Steam as I use Steam every day. I'm not what you would call a people person..

I love steam, for multiple reasons, and I think putting it on steam would be more convenient for me.

As a little anecdote, another F2P game I know of just went on Steam... Steam provided such a massively huge influx of players for their game that it crashed them.
Steam simply depends whether or not the listing price for F2P games (unknown) is less than revenue gained... if it is, then steam is a no-brainer. If you have account problems please Email Support

" Please tell me how Steam would be a horrid idea? It has millions of people that log on each day. This would increase this games notoriety which could help fund it's next release. Do you not want this game to succeed? Yes it has lots of followers now but that would double or even triple if it had something like Steam behind it. Imagine this. One million people that have no idea what POE is wake up. They walk over to their PC's, boot up and log on Steam. The first thing they see is a convenient little pop-up that has a couple pages of notifications about new games or games on sale. POE is on the first page with an awesome art background and 3 big words that every gamer loves to see "DOWNLOAD FOR FREE". These one million people click it and go to the Steam page for the game and begin the free download. And continue to spread the news to each of their friends and it then spreads like a virus...yea.... Plus a lot of people, like me have hundreds of games on Steam and we like to keep all of our stuff together in a nice neat little organized package. " If they wonted to increase the notoriety of this game they would have decreased the timer from 25 mins to 1 min. Hey, it's still CB, and in OB hordes of new player will come. more known as: Elanif

" Did you even read my post ? Lets assume steam will accept a free to play game and does not bind it with a tigth contract and let us assume steam will allow PoE to sell their stuff on their own without taking a big part of the revenue, then it would be a good idea to bring this game to steam. Unfortunatly steam is a actual company and not some misterious welfare organisation so this will not happen. If steam would offer good conditions it would be worth it but since steam would for sure only exept steam exclusive thats very unlikely. A small f2p title no one knows about could easy double the playerbase with a exclusive steam contract. On the other hand steam cant double the potential playerbase of a game with e already rather big playerbase. This means steam would have to cut their share to still make it worth for the developer (since all players would use steam) This is also one of the reasons why titles like HoN or LoL are not on steam. And steam on the other hand makes a much safer bet by supporting less popular titles with a higher cut then lowering the conditions to become attractive for major f2p titles. In other words this would mean steam would be most attractive if the game has very few media attention and publicity. And at the moment it does not look like that is the case with PoE. If valve would give them good conditions why not ? But that is very unlikely ! And again: Steam is not free ! f2p =|= free ! Last edited by Droggeltasse#3624 on Sep 25, 2011, 5:35:08 PM
