Steam have :
great announcing system ! millions of players ! all is said. i think if GGG want more chance to addict Harcore & Casual players, this is the good place to use ! don't use it = lost of money (imo) "i'm the French Saigneur ! Fight for your life stupid MOBs !"
Post to ask for a Key is like a Baby crying for his baby bottle. Totally infantile, it's late, go to bed kids. |

If it were to come to Steam then I'd want some Achievements, because I can't resist me an awesome game that has an Achievement system. D:
Ever vigilant, ever patient.

Steam does promote a lot of indie games, so it would make sense to use any and all avenues to bring a game like PoE to a wider audience.

I believe this has been discussed a few times before, but I still agree. I'm certain the devs have considered Steam, but once again, we have no idea what the deal is with Steam regarding these kinds of games.
They recently started a whole F2P games section, which now has all sorts of things like Rusty Hearts, Spiral Knights, etc. However, Steam clearly must be getting something from the deal, which might be as innocuous as simply being happy with more people installing/looking at Steam as a result, but it could be something that requires more consideration such as a percentage of their cash shop transactions. Ultimately, it would be a good move. It would vastly increase their exposure and Steam would shoulder the bandwidth burden of client downloads and patch updates (I'm not certain if the developers pay for the bandwidth used. Either way, PoE wouldn't have to worry about the infrastructure). That being said, there are potential downsides, and it may not jive with what GGG is trying to do with the game if they want to flesh out some of the community components of the game. They already have the ability to hotlink items to the forums, so I would imagine they could setup an Armory type community profile for players that likely wouldn't translate over to Steam very well. |

" Steam is not free !!!!! There is no reason for steam too accept a "free to play" games unless steam gets something in return. Even if it would be just a contract that makes certain it is steam exclusive, it would be a huge downside for some people. There are alot of indies on steam because it is easier to publish this games on steam then a retail box version and you get publicity by something other then the games website. But this game does not seem to have a problem with publicity at the moment so steam would be a horrid idea. Last edited by Droggeltasse#3624 on Sep 25, 2011, 12:12:32 PM

" I totally agree with you, I don't see any reason why I should download another program that I'd only use for this game, I'm sure it auto opens at the boot... more known as: Elanif

I don't believe this game needs to go on steam, if It's good enough, people will flock to it, especially if Diablo 3 doesn't live up to peoples expectations.
And just take Minecraft for example, that's not on steam, yet 13,975,086 people have registered to their website and 3,595,620 people have bought the game. Last edited by Ascadian92#0327 on Sep 25, 2011, 12:39:59 PM
