Can't connect to patch server

I had the same problem. One internet contract ran out and a new one was started so we got a new modem and everything. PoE wouldn't connect to server. Updated Avast, now I could connect. Specifically, I right clicked Avast in the tray and clicked "update" > "program". Now it works.
