I Play Diablo III Because of Path of Exile's Problems

It's worth noting that the 4-link was change wasn't something that was "pushed through" -- it was a specific situation GGG noticed using their own methodology, rather than something they actually solicited feedback for.

They just took too much out of the game going from D2 LoD to D3...
RoS took more out with the removal of the entire economy. I mean I cleared the content in 4 hours. Ran about 40 bounties. Found out the drop rates were still 1 legendary every 1-2 hours and came back to PoE. Blizzard just has no clue... |

" You're probably right, getting 'it's unreasonably difficult to 4L' for months on end all over the forum probably had nothing to with it, nobody even reads that. They must have reached the conclusion by playing the game themselves and decided to implement it on the spur of 'ah, what the hell' moment :) I think I even remember when we finally got the confirmation from Chris in one post, something like 'we agree this is an issue, and we're considering the options for next major content patch', in the end it was just a likelihood boost but it was spot-on. " Feel free to ask MFers in PoE how many uniques they got per hour. And also, think about those legendary drops as crafting materials in most of the cases. I personally find that a good thing, although PoE still triumphs in theorycrafting and possibilities. I just hope that one day, there will be a game that's not full of extremities. |
|
" Point is I think, while devs and some playerbase may think excessive RNG and trading are good for core, and the amount of desynch is just fine to let it be; there is also a playerbase who does not feel that way at all. One thing I know about PoE community is that they believe options are bad. Motto: "Anyone who does not want to play the game I do, should get the fuck out of here" Thing is this motto is quite successful in achieving its purpose too. |
|
" GGG already know that desync sucks, it's the thing people most complain about every day everywhere. So it's like one more drop of water in an ocean of tears. Disliking trading and orbs is something seperate because it is a preference state. I mean I don't think there is anyone out there who enjoys desync and dying due to it. However, there are people who enjoy orbs and trading and whenever a person makes a thread saying the game needs to be fixed because trading is bad and orbs are bad, they disregard that there are people out there who enjoy the game for exactly those elements. PoE having an economy is a strong point for the game not against it in my opinion, and I don't even trade that much, but I love the dynamics and pricings, how a new league starts and orbs have different value and how they change over time. That's one interesting reason for new leagues, while a Self found league for example sounds stale and boring to me. I already play self found most of the time and no one is keeping me from doing so. But if I want GG gear I know there are only 2 ways to get it. Long grinding, or buying it. " No it's just this attitude that many players have nowadays that the game has change to their will and not they have to change to the game. Feedback is one thing, while demand is another. Some people think just because they can whine a long time that everything's gonna change in their favor and yes GGG is a company and needs to make money, but that doesn't mean they bend to any idea that comes along however many people would like it. If tomorrow 1million Chinese people would want to play PoE and want pay to win elements or they quit, GGG would let them quit. Last edited by KenshiD#1543 on Apr 9, 2014, 7:30:58 AM

" I get 4-5 an hour on my MFer in PoE... |
|
" I wasn't intending to sound snarky, but thanks for representing me as such. The 1.0.0 Balance Changes thread specifically refer to the change as being spurred by a very specific observation they have made -- players dropping off around level 40-50 -- and that was my source. And the confirmation by Chris that you're referring to on the other hand was posted by Qarl in that particularly long self-found thread where he decided to chime in. Diablo 3 was a huge letdown for me. You could not even customize your character at all, which was the best aspect about D2 and similar RPG games. It looks like wow, which i despise greatly. I think it was just a huge scam with Blizzard tag on it, so i won't buy anything else from Blizzard unless i have tried it and i know it is worthy and quality game.
On the other hand, first time i have seen POE i really liked the concept of the game. Also developers seemed like guys that were D1,D2 fans and they really wanted to make a proper ARPG and do it their way. So they worked hard on their project for years to bring us POE, which seemed really promising. Today i think it grew a little bit over their head and they lost their track. More difficult issues start popping up as the player base is much higher than it used to be. Also with adding new items and new skills, the game is getting harder and harder to balance around (sure ARPG doesn't need to be balanced, but that is the modern trend, so people don't cry someone is better). GGG has to focus again and choose if they want the game they once dreamed about (this doesn't mean it will be popular among all gamers) or if they just want to make another easy to forget game, when something new and shiny comes around. I am not going to state all issues i think the game has at this moment, but i want to mention one thing that really bothers me. I like the currency and crafting system overall, i actually thought it was the perfect idea for a game when POE was at it's beginning. The biggest problem i see is that the currency droprate is just stupidly low. It is basically impossible for a player to craft his own item with 6 linked sockets and the colors he needs. I agree that it should be really difficult to obtain such an item and that the crafting is fine the way it is, but the drop rates of orbs has to be increased. Value of items will increase in amounts of currency, therefore the result will be following: People will be able to craft around with their items a little easier and use currency as it is meant to be used and not for trading only. Items will raise in prices which is ok too if the currency drop rate raise. It is not ok, if someone has played hundreds of hours and never dropped a single exalted orb. I mean come on, to get a really good item crafted you need to use multiple exalted orbs and also eternal orbs and you don't drop a single fucking exalted orb after hundreds of hours played. THIS IS WRONG. |
