Okay, what gives on the chrome color odds?

"The color of sockets on items is strongly biased towards the attributes that the item is aligned with. For example, a Strength/Dexterity sword is very likely to contain red or green sockets and unlikely to have blue sockets. "

So not some huge secret hidden from general knowledge. Exact numbers are not published, as is the case with most mechanics, but to say the mechanic itself is largely unknown is false.

Of course, everybody knows that red/green go for str/dex, I meant for the strength of bias that I mentioned earlier, players generally don't know that a higher stat requirement means a higher chance too.

OK, fair point - I misunderstood your meaning. Apologies.
If I recall correctly, the odds are something like:

Pure Stat Item:
80% On-Color, 10% Off-Color1, 10% Off-Color2

Hybrid State Item:
45% On-Color1, 45% On-Color2, 10% Off-Color

Also note that a Chrom cannot leave an Item with EXACTLY the same colours, it'll always change. Which makes rolling an Off-Color slightly higher every other Chrom..

Supposedly items with lower Stat Requirements are easier to roll colours for, but I've not really noticed it much. (Damn you Maligaro's/Facebreakers!)

I hear you there - been stuck with RRRB facebreaker since near start of Ambush. Got a second pair I keep rolling with chromes, but still no sign of a 4R in a few hundred attempts - so I suspect the 45/45/10 ratio is about right regardless of level of stat requirements.

Just dropped a Rainbowstride too - and I suspect that rolling 4R on them would be easier despite the higher stats due to the (guesstimated) 60/20/20 ratio (1/625 vs 1/10000 is a big difference)

It was either 60/20/20 or 80/10/10, I'll have to check my old Chromatic statistics math stuffs to find out.

All I know off-hand is that getting RRBG on an Alpha's Howl takes ~90 Chroms..

Also knowing the potential combinations possible for the colors you want, helps.
