How Path of Exile made me and my Fiancee happy!

Wow (I think that means world of warcraft, right?), you people are gullible.

Lol (that means League of Legends, right?), I agree.
WARNING: Wall of Text! My man insisted I should share our story, and so I shall...

My very own fiancé found this post while checking the forums during a brief d/c and immediately asked if I'd written it! He, too, played a Witch Doctor on D3. (I rocked out a Demon Hunter, but I didn't last long. After getting midway through Nightmare mode, I just lost interest and didn't want to just go through it all again.) He forced himself to continue on, however, in the hopes of being able to do some trading on the RMAH. It was slow going, and every night I'd hear something to the effect of, "If they'd only fix <lots of things>, it'd be okay!" He would post suggestions on the forums, but every week the list of "needed fixes" seemed to get longer. =(

We were both pretty sad because we like playing games together, or at least simultaneously (in the instance of single-players like Skyrim), so we can team up, share build ideas/insights, and just generally have fun together. In desperation, we tried re-subbing TOR, Rift, even WoW (I'd never played, and was won over by the idea of a panda rogue and that addicting Poke-WoW thing... >_>), but they were each cancelled within the month, and we drifted to single-player games to fill the times in-between.

But then! There were whispers in the dark of a new ARPG that offered us hope! (Well, okay, it was actually a post on the TeamLiquid forums. Not sure what I'd do if I heard random whispering in the apartment, telling me to become an Exile...) After watching some videos and exploring the character creation options, (I was immediately impressed by the graphics, "Finally!! Something that isn't cartoon-y!" and eager to start mapping out more characters than there are (initial) slots for.) What completely won us over to become "Supporters" was how open the fine GGG folks have been with information about PoE's progress, most notably in the explanations provided with patch notes. I firmly believe in the power of the consumer in a business relationship - if you don't like a company's policies, don't buy their stuff / give 'em your monies. To that end, I can happily say we've added GGG to the monthly budget (just after the bills and just before laundry! I'd happily wash the clothes in the tub and line-dry if it means being able to sport that shiny Ice Crown and show off a lovely Spectral Basilisk companion! ^.^)

It's only been a week for us in Wraeclast, but already there are more excited smiles and impassioned conversations as we discuss future characters and plans. PoE has definitely given us new hope for the gaming future, in terms of what to play as well as in regards to the industry as a whole; I think the bigger companies can learn a lot from the methods used here.

There is only one problem with our situation: it seems that the chores will only get done now if there's a server d/c, and the poor kitties are getting somewhat desperate for attention. There has been at least one incident of a monitor being unplugged at a woefully terrible time when trying out a Hardcore character. T_T (Don't worry, Mr. Kane is alive and unharmed despite the severe spike in aggro. That character, on the other hand... *le sigh*)

So here's to you, GGG! ^.^ Have you considered the possibilities of in-game weddings, by chance? Possibly alongside couples counseling... I can think of at least one pair who could use some ideas on how to properly share loot drops...

Just in case you don't want to read the entire testimonial:

1. D3 = T_T x2
2. "PoE? Hmm..." *research, play* O...M...Geee! --> ^.^ x2
3. We <3 GGG!

Thanks for letting me share the joy! =D
*Me, playing KOTOR. Roommate walks in, watches* "Who are those guys?"
"Mandalorians."
"Huh... Like the oranges?"
*blink* "...um... Yes! Exactly like the oranges. Tasty, tasty Mandalorians, until they shoot you with acid in the eye!" ^_^
I cant believe I read the whole thing! I'm jealous of your husband.
*fiance rather
Awesome :) and Grats! Wish I had a woman like you - your fiance' is a lucky man.
In other games - you get a cookie whether you win or lose. PoE not only takes your cookie and eats it in front of you, it slaps you upside the head a few times for bringing a cookie in the first place.
These stories brought tears on my eyes. So touching.

"Thank you GGG! Sexy time has increased!"

Fucking win.

Not sure if on purpose pun or just fortuitous.

Thanks, guys! =D Yes, yes he is a lucky guy... ^.^ (lol, he does surprise me with random food during loading screens or game maintenance times, so I think it's probably pretty balanced, as relationships go...)

Bonus cookie points for the reading accomplishment, too, btw! =D

As far as "sexy time" goes, not sure about the quantity increasing due to PoE... I mean, so long as the servers stay up, there's a pretty big distraction... (hehe)

Great read indeed, and happy to read that you both found a game to enjoy together. Stories like these are far and few between.
