Z grade movies

Any fans of cinematic sewage?
![]() Just finished up a double feature of DEATH CURSE OF TARTU and THE STING OF DEATH. DEATH CURSE was pretty boring and uneventful but THE STING OF DEATH is just excellent in every way! Very educational stuff here, especially the audio commentary for each film. So much quality content packed into this Something Weird DVD, enjoyed everything except for the snoozer extra MIAMI OR BUST. Grossed me out more than any gore film I've ever seen. ![]() One tasty tidbit tucked away in the extras is LOVE GODDESSES OF BLOOD ISLAND, or SIX SHES AND A HE. First time seeing this, just too bad it's an incomplete version. One the first gore flicks, made the same year as HG Lewis' BLOOD FEAST. Apparently there's a more complete version available, looking forward to watching that soon. Anyways, I'm on a B movie binge, any suggestions are welcome. List some of your favorites. I highly recommend ZAAT or BLOOD WATERS OF DR. Z. MST3K did a parody of it, plus I caught the original version on TCM a couple years ago. Definitely something I'd like to pick up on DVD. Have you seen Street Trash? A mate has been recommending me to watch it for a while now. He lent me his copy but I couldn't play it as it had some international code block on it.
The reviews I've read for it are funny as hell and I'll try to get myself a copy soon. I'm not too sure about which b-grade movies I'd recommend as most fall flat. Does Grind House count? A B-grade movie made by A grade producers. I've recently watched the Wrong Turn movies and they are so bad that they're good. "Withdrawing in disgust is not the same as apathy"

" Yeah, I watched it many years ago on VHS before it was available on DVD. Later, I bought a copy at one of the many mom n' pop's video stores that went out of business along with a bunch of other trashy horror flicks. It's very much tongue-in-cheek and extremely vulgar, pushing the envelope in many departments. One phrase from that movie has always stuck with me, "I'll make you parade around bare-pussy!" There was also a show on The Comedy Channel (pre Comedy Central) that reviewed trash films and this is one of the movies they reviewed. They even showed the scene where the guy's penis gets lopped off and they play football with it. I can't remember the name of this show for the life of me though! " No, not what this thread's about. I'm talking about authentic z grade films, pre-1990. Wannabes and homages don't count. |

Just finished watching Something Weird's THE DEFILERS / SCUM OF THE EARTH double feature. There's a neat feature on the disc that includes almost a dozen sleazy, misogynistic trailers, the two movies and even a 10 minute intermission. After 3 hours of this filth, you'll want to take a nice long shower.
I've seen some brutal movies over the years, but I had no idea what I was in for with THE DEFILERS! This has got to be one of the most depraved, hateful pieces of filth ever committed to film with absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Packed with nudity, sex, dope smokin' and ultraviolence! Misogyny galore! Do you hate women? Then you'll love THE DEFILERS! ![]() Reminds me of CLOCKWORK ORANGE or maybe even HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER. I really can't say enough about this movie. Key takeaway from this movie: If a chick's not in the mood, beat her about the buttocks mercilessly until she finally gives in to her sexual desires. For the kicks... SCUM OF THE EARTH is quite boring by comparison, but still a good flick and one of H.G. Lewis' better movies in my opinion. But really, almost any movie is boring compared to THE DEFILERS. For those that have seen it, is it just me, or is the suicide scene eerily similar to Budd Dwyer's suicide video??? ![]() After watching the trailers, I discovered a really sick movie that I've got to see called AROUSED. Looks totally vile, about a warped sex killer who targets hookers. From the trailer, it looks like it could easily top any slasher I've ever seen. |

I'm weird when it comes to B flicks. I love pretty much all of the Troma movies like Class of Nuke 'Em High, Slime City Massacre (that was Troma right?) and of course the Toxic Avenger. I would probably consider movies like Lucio Fulci's Zombi, City of the Dead (aka The Gates of Hell) and most Dario Argento flicks as B movies and I love the shit outta them.
I'm a huge fan of the Guinea Pig series too. I'd recommend checking out Combat Shock if you haven't seen it. Oh and I saw on Netflix not long ago The Lair of the White Worm, fucking excellent! I'm pretty sure I've seen Street Trash before, but I'm also pretty sure I was completely baked and don't remember anything from the movie. I love goofy campy movies, but my favorites are the ones that take themselves seriously and pull off an extremely dark atmosphere like the two Nekromantik movies. I'm always on the hunt for the most evil and vile shit out there. Threads is fucking great, and Men Behind the Sun is one of my faves, although I'm not sure I would call it a B movie. Just watched A Serbian Film a few weeks back, but again, not a B flick. Now even though this is not pre-1990, check out The August Underground. That is a straight up Z flick, and while it's terrible to its core, it's also pretty disturbing in some places. I'll look up The Defilers tonight, sounds awesome! I always welcome more horrific film to my collection. |

" Wow man thanks for your contribution! I've seen and love most of the movies you mentioned except Slime City Massacre (sounds great) and The Lair of the White Worm, a movie I've meant to check out for years. Wasn't really into A SERBIAN FILM. COMBAT SHOCK might be the best thing Troma ever distributed, along with SURF NAZIS MUST DIE, IGOR AND THE LUNATICS and BLOODSUCKING FREAKS. I'm definitely leaving a few off, those are just off the top of my head. Nekromantik 1 & 2 fit easily into a short list of movies that I consider favorites that never get old. If you're interested, definitely track down Jorg Buttgereit's artsy DER TODESKING, though you've probably already seen it. Though these aren't exactly "Z". If you dig THE DEFILERS, check out THE SADIST. Last edited by Pat_Splat#3446 on Mar 24, 2014, 12:32:12 AM

Z movies and all this schlock, it's something I always wanted to like more than I do. It's always fun to see a proper review of that sorto of material but watching feature length is somewhat above my strength.
Be ready. You're not paranoid, you're PREPARED.
I quit this game every few months and so should you to continue playing it in the future. The device is believed to have been dropped |

Killin' for Satan
Not Z grade, but low budget, cult, exploitation, so I'll drop it here anyways... ![]() Good n' violent, anti-establishment hate on film. Anybody know the translation to that poster? "Sharon Tate is dead... ???" Seems to be drawing a comparison to the "Satans" in this film to the real life Straight Satans that ran with the Manson gang? |

Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Get it on Netflix. |

" I have every single episode on DVD (except the first 2 that aired on KTMA) Sometimes I'd rather watch these movies without interruption, and MST3K used to dig up garbage that I don't think I could ever sit through... mostly the Japanese stuff, I have no interest in that. |
