Enduring Cry and Increased Duration, Very Weird.......
" They are only "incorrect" because you are misunderstanding the way Path of Exile works. In case you want to read more "incorrect theories" as written by the fucking creator of ECry. Last edited by Vipermagi#0984 on Mar 15, 2014, 11:48:48 AM

Enduring Cry doesn't cast Endurance Charges one you, it casts Enduring Cry on your enemies. Then you are granted a number on Endurance Charges depending on the number off enemies you hit with Enduring Cry. You are granted charges, but you don't actually cast the charges on yourself. This is unlike say Molten Shell where you cast Molten Shell directly on yourself.
If you can't understand it, imagine the skill Blood Rage. You cast Blood Rage on yourself. If you have Increased Duration, Blood Rage will last longer. However, if you kill enemies while under it's influence, you will not gain any increased duration on your Frenzy Charges. So, Increased Duration will increase the duration of Blood Rage, which is the skill you cast, but not the duration of Frenzy charges, which is what you gain when you kill enemies with Blood Rage on you. Even better, imagine Increased Duration on Warlocks Mark. The curse itself will last longer, but if you gain an endurance charge by killing enemies under it's influence, the endurance charge will not last any longer because of that. |

The fact is, you complain that we're splitting hairs on a technicality, but that's because that's how the game is. Computers sometimes interpret things in ways that don't make sense to us. Anyone looking at Arctic Armor, for example, would agree that the mana drain effect is a debuff, but to the game, it's actually a buff. This means that when the game applies anything that increases the effects of buffs on you, the mana drain also goes up. It's the same thing with Enduring Cry. To the game, Enduring Cry says to add a certain number of Endurance Charges, but says nothing about what those charges do or how long they last. The game therefore looks at the base mechanics for Endurance Charges and uses those. Unfortunately, the base mechanics for Endurance Charges don't allow Support Gems to affect them; only passives from the skill tree are factored in. So as far as the game is concerned, Enduring Cry isn't affected by Increased Duration. It may not make sense to you, but no matter how much you argue against it, and no matter how much you wish it was otherwise, the interpretation the other people in this thread have put forth is how the game interprets it. If you don't like it, go to the Feedback forum, find the thread for Enduring Cry, and say so there. This forum is for Game Play Help, and while the answer you've gotten isn't the one you want, it is the correct one. Your question has been answered, so move on.

" Um that link has nothing to do whatsoever with if taunt or endurance charges are the point/primary focus of the skill, or how they work together, or anything to do with this thread really. It explains the mechanics of enemies aggro for taunt, cool story. If you don't understand the current argument, don't comment please. |

I get it i do, you cast enduring cry, not the charges, you cast the skill, the charges come as a result, so the actual enduring cry would increase but it doesn't have a duration to increase and you cant increase charges duration because they aren't the actual act of the skill itself.
Such a stupid technicality, and i was right. Its just a retarded technicality for GGG to not allow us to extend the charges further, not sure why they couldn't just say this instead of going through this crap, see below. as someone else linked (wrongly) here... http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/13704/filter-account-type/staff#p593376 At the bottom of the post, or the post just below, they say how they don't want you carrying charges from fight to fight which you could easily do with Increased Duration. So that's it, THAT'S why you can't do it, that's why it doesn't work that way, this technical explanation was just basically a stupid cover up that you guys ate right up and served its purpose well. Sorry to be so blatant, but. Instead of just saying that they just didn't want us using ID because they don't want us having the charges on permanently, that they want us to have to make the charges each fight, they came up with some stupid technicality of how the skill works, they would make great lawyers lol..... " Huh. Enduring Cry is a shout, why would you place Increased Duration on it? There's no duration for the skill, it's like a Cold Snap. Charges are pretty OP fyi. Makes sense why GGG wouldn't want any player carrying them from one fight to another semi-permanently. You also answered your question yourself. "Why can't Increased Duration, increase the duration of the charges of ECry?". Key words to note, "Of the charges of ECry" <- you're talking about 2 different things here, this isn't even a technicality anymore, just you twisting context. It's more like "of the charges GENERATED by ECry", therefore ECry has no relation to any duration to be increased and your question regarding why ECry can't be increased in duration is exactly that. Increased Duration for a skill, in this case Enduring Cry, with 0 duration. Also, Skill Gem Enduring Cry has no Keyword on the top that says Duration, it's just Spell,AoE incase you missed it. Some noob always complaining... hoping things get better. Last edited by KradisZ#5121 on Mar 16, 2014, 11:14:26 AM

" It's not a technicality, it's exactly as you said it is in your first paragraph. |
