Mutes are punishements for breaking the rules. If you don't break the rules, you don't get punished.

No game wants players who break the rules habitually.

i was calling him a dick/unpleasant person becuase of the way he was acting.

in the situation you provided the person would be illiterate to think you were using option "4"

Muting you for profanity -> "obviously want people to quit the game"

That being said, GGG has been pretty lenient in the past with cussing, however pointing slang/slurs/curse words/etc at a specific individual is considered harassment and will get you muted pretty quickly.

We are adults here, and none of us should have to be told how to act. Saying things like "Fuck" and "Shit" are things that sometimes pop up in adult conversations or informal speech and considering that this is an adult game most moderators and developers(all that I've seen) do not have a problem with this. Telling someone to go fuck themselves, or general harassment/naming calling is grounds for mute.

Looks like you found it on your own. It doesn't come right out and say "we will mute you for x,y, and z" but they could have just hit you with a ban and been done with it.

Try to say "I honor my reputation" in some other games :)

so saying someones a prick is "unpleasant" language

yet subjecting a specific hate towards me form the other player isn't against those same policies?

why didn't both of us receive a mute?
