i just got muted when some guy told me;

i replyed by asking him if he was a prick...

You're currently playing semantics, while dodging that you were calling someone a slang name. Stop playing semantics. I don't condone the troll action that the person you were trying to trade with did to you, but you have to learn to ignore that stuff.

I got muted for 9 days for pretending to be a currency seller and linking to a website with an offensive gif running 24/7.

I believe it's the communities attempt to weed out the stereotype of online gamers. The name calling, obnoxiousness, and dickishness in general that is seen in every popular game that people in PoE dislike. I'm guessing the immediate jump to mute you was in hopes of nipping said act in the bud before they got an ear full, guess eye full in this instance.

PoE seems have a higher maturity level compared to any other game I've ever played. I like the fact that the community is willing to step up and stop the rampant harassment immediately. Not saying that you were meaning to come off as this kind of person, but maybe take a step back and rethink what you say in the future. It can be easy to fall into pitfalls of past games where you could say exactly what you wanted with very little repercussions.

All in all, just take the mute. It's not permanent and doesn't ruin the game play.

Mutable offences:

-Rude or offensive character name
-Insulting other players
-Spamming chat
-Rude or offensive language.

Your post there falls into the last catagory. The mod did the right thing, and you know it.

Well... yesterday, when people started calling other people names in global chat, I said that they should mind their language because it would eventually get them muted/banned. After I said that, a whole bunch of people attacked me and called me names for even thinking of saying that and that I should "fuck off" and play another game if I couldn't take it.

I agree with GGG's policy though, it's obnoxious and just very immature if people can only have a conversation which includes swearing and the like.
