but in English at least should it be closer to 'væl'? Would the 'aa' diphthong be closer to 'vayel'?

it is not english...

I mean we dont have the rules for Wraeclastian languages do we, but they seem to be speaking english.

It's not the current Wraeclastian language either. And if you're going to insist on pronouncing things the way they are in English, good luck with something like Welsh.

In any case, there are a few examples of NPC's saying it as part of their dialogue, so there isn't really much room to argue about how it's supposed to be pronounced.

That's how I would pronounce it.

The god Baal is also often written as Baʿal to clarity it's a long A.
Baldurs Gate used the form Bhaal to indicate it's long A.
Hears the head GGG guy pronounce it one way
Creates thread asking GGG how to pronounce it
Ask Eramir. =^[.]^=
=^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/
whiskers =@[.]@= boggled / =>[.]<= annoyed or angry / ='[.]'= concerned / =0[.]o= confuzzled /
=-[.]-= sad or sleepy / =*[.]*= dazzled / =^[.]~= wink / =~[.]^= naughty wink / =9[.]9= rolleyes #FourYearLie
Can be pronounced two ways, "Vayel" or "Vahl" if it's related to the word "Baal" or "Ba'al" as I imagine it is.

This is bothering me GGG please respond.

If you pay any attention to the audio in game, it says "vaal" MULTIPUL times throughout the game.

The rest is up to you.

BTW its Vhal, as to rhyme with "ball"
