I guess that's the sick thing about me, that I don't see death metal just as brutal and stuff. Like I bang my head a bit in the car sometimes, but it's mostly just music to my ears man. I don't look like a metalhead, unless maybe when i am playing the guitar. I just love death metal, it just does it for me. I can sit there and just listen to it, as if it were Pink Floyd to other people. It soothes me. Maybe I have issues lol.

Although I share your sentiment at times, as in this case (loved this band for a while but got sick of it,
too much and not enough substance musically):

That's exactly how I am with black metal. I can listen to extremely dark, extremely harsh bm that a lot of people won't sit through and it's just beautiful to me. But I do look like a metalhead haha, long hair, long goatee, tattoos, piercings. Eh, stereotypical I guess lol.

Nah man, everyones got their feel, for example people cant understand how i can listen to doom metal, to them its slow and boring, to me its the most heavy sounding music ever made.

this song from reverend bizarre is one of the heaviest and deepest tracks they did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUGXiR_Lgfo

And this song from Saint Vitus is about just that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpVUMuLLqug

"They say my songs are much too slow
But they don't know the things I know"

And i also look like a stereotypical metalhead, i got long hair that reaches my ass(cut it to my shoulders a few years ago, now it grew back), i got tattoos and most of the time i wear a patch jacket

The thing about doom is, young people will always hate it, but once they grow older theyll realize how much feeling and heaviness this music has. And even if they dont like it, one day a year, on my birthday in the most frequented metal pub in my town, the guy who slaps the music on puts doom from the moment i walk until 6am when the pub closes, cause fuck'em :D

It's funny that you mention that bit about young people and Doom. When I was a teen if my music wasn't fast it wasn't good. I absolutely could not stand doom, and if someone put on something like Witchfinder General or Electric Wizard I would have said fuck off. Now over the past several years (I'm 27 now) Doom has become a regular listen for me. I'm still not too big on funeral Doom stuff, I mean 1 bpm is a little slow for me still lol.

And I never really wear my war jacket unless I'm going to a show. I normally dress fairly nice nowadays cause the ladies like it lol, but used to I would only wear band shirts, war jacket and ripped/patched jeans and boots. But I guess that's besides the point.

Depends how many megatons that 1 bpm has. It's all about the caliber bro. Typical doom bps is nice for me but I like bph (beats per hour) of sunn because every beat is like a nuclear blast shockwave.

I haven't really listened to Sun O))) much, but from what I've heard... not sure I can do it. I do like Ahab however....

Heres some different stuff from death metal, and by that i mean my usual stoner/doom/sludge

Jex Thoth, i usually dont like female fronted bands because usually those types of bands just go for a super hot bombshell and theyll have nerds buying their CDs like hot bread, but this lady has actually absolutely amazing vocals and lyrics and is obviously not done for the commercial aspect of having a hot chick sing for wankers : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCQTpUinZIU

And i might as well continue on the good bands with female vocals since it seems like a good theme, here is Blood Ceremony: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6oxn82GAcQ

And this is Witch Mountain with a female vocal again, it's heavy as fuck, and the vocals fit it perfectly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ko4YwjB2wY

i seriously suggest you try them all

also, this type of music goes extremely well with smoking

Dude... I just listened to this stuff. I didn't care for Jex Thoth, but Blood Ceremony are great! Though Witch Mountain? Holy fucking shit that song wrecks me!!! Definitely gonna have to delve into this stuff some more. And I wish I still smoked dude... been a stoner most of my life, stopped smoking early this month and won't start again until I get my career back on track. Even without smoking good music can make me feel high though lol. It helps me that all of this music is occult related too...

E: Sometimes youtube impresses me. On the side panel I saw an album cover that I really liked from a band I've never heard of before (and no I don't listen to The Doors). I've only listened to this one song so far, but I dig the shit out of this:

Horse Latitudes - Gathering http://youtu.be/lkM6Xb9_13E

After listening I felt like there was no guitar in this band. Metal Archives verifies this. 2 bass guitars. Fucking awesome.

Witch Mountain is pretty unique, unfortunately i dont really know any other band that sounds like them, they are pretty damn good at what they do.

I know that album, but here is soemthing a bit more extreme from the guys that also played in acid bath, this album has 3 bass guitars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJSbZBxyvMA
Shrum, like acid bath, disbanded when Audie died so they only got to release that album unfortunately
