Scion

I didn't said I couldn't beat the game on normal. I said doing it without playing as the class I want to play would be about as fun as stabing myself in the eye with a pencil... Now to do that for 8 hours in a row... Yeah, no thanks.

I belive what you are failing to see, along with some other people who think similarly is that the game stands nothing to lose to have the character unlocked right from the starts. On the other hand it may lose players and as such possible customers by having characters locked.

you have to move away from the concept of class.

what you want to build your scion as, is possible from the other paths as well, maybe not perfect, but 1million percent close enough till dominus normal fight.

the logic of "not playing the class i want" is faulty because there are no classes, especially so for the first 35 or so lvls to unlock scion.

you want to play female? pick witch or ranger
you want to play scion with spells? a witch would do the same exact thing
you want to play with heavy strike? a ranger can do as easily as a scion
you want to play with X? a Y can do it as easily as a scion

(for the normal difficulty at least)

as for what the game loses:
replayability and more importantly people playing the game.
statistically, a lot of people fail their first builds. scion is harder to build. If new players started to build scions all over, they would more easily become frustrated with the game and quit than say picking marauder, picking the nodes in front of them in order, and at least making it into cruel and beyond

It will never be the same thing, also the start will not feel the same and this is important for me especially because I use this as inspiration material to write. I'm sure if you search the foruns you'll find somewhere a very old post of mine as I played through the first act and put some writing material here...

The game does not loses replayablilly. No one needs a class locked to play with some other class and then play with that class. If the person in question wanted to play with both to the end, the person would do it.

And yes, people mess up their first build, but what is the diffeernce if they mess up a Scion build or a ranger build the first time they play? None, the build would just grow more and more unviable with time until you'd have to make a new proper character.

Similarly, if the character is so hard why would you need to lock it and treat the players as if they were idiots? Isn't it much better to just put a warning message when you pick the scion saying that the character is very hard to play to those who don't have a deep knowledge of the game mechanics? This way if they get frustated because they are sucking... Well they were warned this was not a good choice as a first character and they'd know that other characters have much easier starts.

At the end of the day, unlocking this character from the beggining only gives you more options right from the start and that is never a bad thing.

Nowhere did I said the character would be locked again. i said it is locked from the start when it shouldn't.

No and that is the problem, I really don't want to play any other class just to get the Scion. It will not be fun and yet, there really isn't a way to unlock it other than play as some other class so yeah.

I wonder if there isn't a way to actually cheat this... If I get into a party and they open me a portal to where the Scion is, even if I don't have the location still opento me but I am in the correct act, I should be able to go through the portal and free the scion right?

Im sorry but you are either trolling, or you are a fucking dumbass. you bothered to follow this thread you made for 8 hours but you dont want to play for like 1 hr and half to kill dominus and unlock scion?

Please just gtfo and go play call of duty.

Ill probably get on probation for this but you deserve it soo bad

Maybe -

but, why?

The restriction is pretty good, I think. Better to have the restriction than to have brand new people pissed off when their all over the map on the tree selection.

If you havent killed Dom on normal: more than likely you dont have the gems / gear to make a decent multi-tree build work and you are more than likely going to have a poor experience.

If you arent going for a multi-tree build.. why bother with the scion?

Why not just spend the couple hours anyways? --- at least for a few of the more useful gems youll need on your Sci.

Unlocking Scion take what? 2 Hours of gametime if you know what you do or ask someone that does in allchat. Theirs no Build that cant be played exept maybee MOM SK/ET Scion that you cant do with any other class. Seriously OP is such a crybaby
There's a very simple answer to this. Log in to your level 32 Witch, and ask someone in global chat to help you unlock Scion by walking you through Scepter of God and the Dominus fight, killing Dominus for you. If you have currency to offer them, that will help too. I estimate this will take you about 1 hour of further time investment at this point, period.

It's a lot of time wasted, playing with some character that I don't want to play with just so that I can play with the character I want. Can you really not see what is wrong here?

EDIT: If you cannot still see the problem I'll put it in much simpler terms. I play games to have fun, doing what I don't want to do in a game is not having fun and if I'm not having fun, then why the hell would I be playign the game?

WHUT?

Seriously, whut?

Complaining about time to unlock in a game that demands grinding?

What next, making Shavs a guaranteed drop and not having to spend time to grind for it?

EDIT: Here's your problem, OP.
