New Highest Level of Gems?

As far as I was aware, the highest a gem could get was 24, with +2 level of bow gems, +2 level of gems, and linked Empower.
I dare say a corrupted Vaal gem could now get up even higher with the new mods.
We know for certain they added "+2 Level of Vaal Gems" to items from one of the linked items in the teasers, and corrupted gems can hit 21. Assuming a corrupted Empower gives an additional +1 level, the new gem level cap would be 28, or 27 without the corrupted empower giving 2 levels.

Is all of my math solid here?

New max is 28 if corrupted empower is a thing.. 27 without that. Even more if the implicit can roll +1 to gems(or specific gems like melee). If it can roll +2 to vaal gems then possible max is 29.

Current highest is 26 by the way. +2 to specific gem type+1 to all gems,empower(boosted by+1 to all gems).

Imagine the price of that bow though...
6L, +2 Bow gems, +2 Vaal gems, +1 all gems.

Chris has said that if you de-level a gem, you can lvl it back up (to 20) but obv its now corrupted and can't be gcp'ed or vaal orb'ed again.

Question is if you corrupt a lvl 15 gem (for example) and boost it to lvl 16, can you still lvl it back up to 21????

No. You have to corrupt it at 20. If it delevels you can still get it back to 20. Corrupted does not increase max level, it just adds +1 to gem level(which can exceed max).

Damn, it does make sense. Otherwise you would just corrupt 20q lvl 1 gems as opposed to risking lvl 20 gems.

This way you have to risk maxed out gems (20q, lvl 20) to reap the benefit.

Well it's not a huge risk. It works in reverse too(you can't decrease max level).

30 - you forgot the base of 21 for it being corrupted.

Well the gem would have to be a vaal gem to benefit from the +2 to vaal gem implicit, and i don't know if you can get a level 21 vaal gem cause you can't use vaal orbs on a vaal gem since it's corrupt.
