In standard and hardcore, there are already players who have reached lvl 100 and can breeze through the most difficult immaginable content with ease. They would just load their uber character, rush throug the dungeon and quickly grab the prize, which completely defeats the whole purpose of this race, and completely ruins the deed->reward the developers are going for, including for the player himself (who has no feeling of really deserving this).
In the new leagues, it's an actual race, and the first ones to actually do it will deserve their prize.
that was my first thought too. But thankfully the 12minute video says it's for the New leagues only. So, everyone starts from scratch.
Of course, the people who have all day to play will get that. Work and family = no microtransaction for me. At least it's as balanced as they can make it.
