Catacombs and other useless areas. RISKS AND REWARDS!!
Catacombs chest gives SO MUCH L00T that making it guaranteed won't change anything!

It would be better, if Catacombs had some boss, chest are lame anyway nowadays.

Get more exp soloing catacombs 65-80 than full party docks or low maps due to fast easy clear speed

I flip flop between Catacombs and Chamber of Sins from ~55-70 (obviously, starting in Chamber at 55. Both are very easy grind spots due to Purity of [Element] and their respective flasks. I've found them to be roughly equally as rewarding in terms of exp / time due to Chamber's faster/easier clear speed.
I'll agree, it always feels empty, reaching Cata's last room and there nod being a unique mob. Just always feels like it should be a conclusive, awesome encounter... and it's not. I'll also agree, Catacombs could stand to have a side quest. Nothing major is necessary. Just something to say "hey, this area exists.." But otherwise, no.... The area is not useless. It's one of the best pre-Piety grind spots in the game. Seriously. Purity of Ice and Sapphire Flask make the area super freakin easy. Devolving Wilds

Visual incentives are key. If a player is aware of a chest existing at the end of an arduous level they will have more incentive to explore it. XP and grinding are all over the place and thats the basic tenet of this game so just saying its another area to xp gain is just dumb.
As expected almost all who support the current settings are hardcore or long time supporters and no offence fellas, you guys just crave the abuse if anything. YOu would be licking GGGs boots if they wanted you to slit your wrists just so you can show off a new achievement or status that you can show off. Thirdly, how do other games get away with rewarding players? Dungeon crawling isn't a new experience and plenty of other MMOs have adapted that with an incentive get to that special chest. As for vendoring and botting thats just the nature of the beast. You can regulate it but you cannot eradicate it. Seeing as how trade is based on local currency, I don't see it destabilizing as much as people fear. True its going to get bad at the beginning but then it will calm down as the trading did the first time the game introduced it. So no, the game has great atmosphere but nothing happening in the levels other than the basic monsters infesting and getting quest related items. No random events happen in the map which isn't tied to the quests, there is not much happening in the game besides the main plot which is mostly a throwaway.
